DESCRIPTION
Located on Peaceful Valley Road approximately two miles from the hamlet of North Creek, these newly constructed log cabins are the closest lodging to Gore Mountain. They are only 1/3 mile from the ski center entrance. However, Creekside Cabins are a year-round destination that can be enjoyed anytime of the year, not just winter. The cabins are situated very close the west bank of the North Creek, which is quite enjoyable for fishing, wading or observing the abundant wildlife.

The creek is stocked with trout and can be waded in the summer. Spring run-off swells the creek and can be occasionally paddled by experienced canoeists and kayakers. In the heat of August, when the creek is low, we have placed a lawn chair in the middle of the creek and cooled our heels in the mountain stream. The creek is great to listen to.

There are four bedrooms in the larger of the two cabins, two down and two up. The downstairs bedrooms are relatively small but have full size beds, which are adequate for two people. One of the bedrooms downstairs has a sliding door, which opens to a screened porch, overlooking North Creek. The upstairs bedrooms are larger and also have full size beds. Each upstairs bedroom has a dormer with a window, which overlooks North Creek. The bedrooms are great for taking a nap or reading a book/newspaper while listening to the brook babble. For those who don't want to miss that important game, all bedrooms have cable television.

Connected to the bathroom is a cedar finished sauna which is great after an active day on the slopes, or anytime. Facing the creek is a deck and a screened in porch. Situated in the living area is a red, enamel Vermont Castings woodstove. The cabin is well built and Energy Star labeled.

There is a guest cabin on the property also which has a bedroom downstairs and a loft sleeping area. The downstairs bedroom has a full size bed. The upstairs loft has two single beds. This a great cabin for a couple, a couple with kids, or even two couples. There is a combination kitchen/living area and a bathroom with shower downstairs also. This cabin also has a deck, which fronts the creek. There is a picnic table and fire pit next to the creek. The guest cabin is available separately or as a package deal for larger groups.

Both cabins have woodstoves which are not necessary to heat the cabins, but provide great atmosphere. The primary heat sources for the cabins are Monitor gas heaters, which are quite adequate on the coldest nights. Both cabins are tiled in all areas except the bedrooms, which are carpeted. The majority of the walls are wood, which provide a cozy, Adirondack feel. Linens are provided. Both cabins are equipped with an oven/range, refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, propane grill for outdoor barbecues, utensils, plates, etc. for in-house cooking. There is a supermarket in town to stock up on supplies. Walking distance across the street is an Adirondack style restaurant/lodge/bar (The Inn at Gore), which serves very good food. Other eateries are located within a couple of miles and are also good.

Canoeing. Kayaking. Skiing at Gore. We offer discount passes. Tubing. Cross country skiing at Garnet Hill. Riding the scenic Adirondack train in North Creek. Bicycling - bikes may be available. Fly fish the Hudson. Fish Thirteenth Lake or other brooks. Hike at Thirteenth Lake or to the Blue Ledges on Hudson. Visit the garnet mines. Walk, ski, or bike to Camp Santanoni. Visit the Interpretive Center in Newcomb and the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake. Ride the gondola at Gore. Of course, you are conveniently located to Lake George and Saratoga Spring for day trips.
