DESCRIPTION
This is a fully furnished
three bedroom home available year-round. It is located on a
private, motor-less lake on an eight acre private park at the end of a road. The area offers an abundance of tranquility disrupted only by the loons and the occasional slap of a beaver's tail. There are ducks, geese, deer, bear, otter, beaver, fisher, marten and now, increasingly, moose all spotted on or around the lake. There is a private dock, canoe, kayak, pedal boat for your enjoyment of the beautiful 200+
acre, sparsely developed, lake with good fishing. While only 10 miles from a shopping center (complete
with Wal-Mart for certain necessities) it is in an area of the Adirondack Park known for being off the
beaten path yet very close to major metropolitan areas. It is 90 minutes from Albany and
three hours from New York City.
The house itself is a new
1,600 square foot modular home with full kitchen,
three bedrooms with two queen-sized beds, two twins (and a crib and juvenile bed available) for flexible sleeping of up to
seven or eight (depending on ages). There is a propane stove and furnace, washer, dryer,
two full bathrooms, cable TV, outdoor fire pit with firewood furnished, porch and circular driveway. The lake is a very short (150
feet) walk away and the house is situated on a private
eight acre park with 300 foot of lake frontage, dock, private nature trails and visible neighbors on only one side. There is quick access to many hiking trails (both marked and unmarked) and maintained snowmobile trails. Lapland Lake X-country Ski Center is only 12 miles away. Saratoga Springs (and the race track) is less than one hour east, Lake George (and Great Escape) is about an hour east, Speculator (Speculator Department Store) is less than an hour north, Caroga lake is 15 minutes west, Pine Lake (swimming, miniature golf) is 20 minutes north, Great Sacandaga Lake (Northhampton Beach, boating, swimming etc.) is 15 minutes east and Gloversville (groceries and essentials) is 10 minutes south. These are only a few locations as reference points. Traffic is always negligible.
For the more experienced
outdoors persons, there are thousands of acres of state land accessible by foot and designated as "wild forest". For those with a GPS and an inclination to get completely lost or
geo-cache, the owner has bushwhacked the mountains for decades and would be happy to point you toward some very exclusive journeys or overnights. Adirondack deer and bear hunting is legendary but challenging. The fishing is plentiful and easy. The Adirondack Museum is about
two hours away and probably the easiest way to get a complete Adirondack experience without getting really lost, wet and tired.
For most, however, the mountains are best enjoyed from the comfort of the newly furnished cabin,
lounging by the campfire or just bobbing in a canoe. Food and supplies are close at hand (10
minutes) and there is a restaurant (The Sawdust Cafe) with quality meals and a country store within a 10 minute stroll (1/2 mile).
There are local bed and breakfasts and another fully-furnished cabin on the same property (100 feet away) can be rented in conjunction for larger parties of up to 14.
