The library is stocked with more than 200 books including area and nature guides, childrens books, classic literature and sport-specific topics (e.g. hiking, backpacking, canoeing, fishing, skiing, bicycling, rock climbing, etc.). It also includes information on area attractions, detailed backcountry maps, restaurant menus and reviews, and back issues of magazines of local interest (e.g. Adirondack Life and Adirondack Explorer).

Hike, fly-fish, kayak, ski, cross-country ski, or just enjoy nature from an Adirondack chair. Vermont and Montreal are easy day trips. The Essex ferry to Vermont is less than 45 minutes away. And it is only a two hour drive from Hemlock Lodge to downtown Montreal.

Meet the Owner(s)

About Us: Brad is a brand strategy expert. His Brand Aid book has sold more than 20,000 copies. He enjoys sailing, hiking, reading, nature study, oil painting, art collecting, architecture, wine and urban design. Stacey has a collection of 1,300 hats and headdresses from around the world that she intends to turn into an ethnographic museum. Her hobbies are language, international travel, bicycling and orchids. They both enjoy downhill and cross-country skiing, scuba diving, kayaking, tennis and gardening.

Why we think you will enjoy staying in Upper Jay: Upper Jay is a quiet hamlet just minutes away from Whiteface Mountain and numerous trailheads. It is also close to Lake Placid without being in the town's fray. Finally, it is closer to Vermont (via the Essex Ferry), Montreal (via the Northway) and Lake George than Lake Placid itself.

Why our property is special: Surrounded by 45 acres of woods, our rustic log home makes you feel about as far away from civilization as one can feel while still being convenient to all that the Adirondack High Peaks offer.
