| Charming original 1920's cottage, set in secluded woods on the edge of quiet and pristine Lake Clear, with views of mountains and sunsets, 190' of landscaped waterfront and birch trees right outside your bedroom and living-room windows. The living / dining area is unique, with aged hand-hewn pine crossbeams and walls. Large picture windows face the lake. A cast-iron wood-burning stove warms the room in minutes on chilly mornings.
Both lakeside bedrooms have full-size double beds, with a half-bath off the master bedroom. The third bedroom has a set of bunk beds and a full size futon sofa/bed. Off a hallway lined with books is a full bathroom, with shower/tub. The living room has a queen sleeper sofa, comfy armchairs and a modern upholstered glider. The dining area has a hand-made pine table, that can seat eight. The separate kitchen is fully equipped with stove and oven, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, griddle, and toaster oven. A separate, private cottage with half-bath and full size futon sleeps 2 more people. The spacious back deck faces the woods and gets the morning sun, perfect for a blueberry pancake breakfast at the large umbrella-shaded table that seats eight. Since the lakefront faces west, the grassy lawn is sunny all afternoon. Try your hand at croquet. Spend a quiet afternoon reading in one of the roomy Adirondack chairs, and then dine al fresco at the lakeside picnic table, watching the sun set and listening to the loons calling across the lake. A great blue heron will often wing by to a favorite evening fishing spot, and sometimes, even a bald eagle. Lake Clear is known for its crystalline waters, sandy lake-bottom, fishing, and wildlife (loons, great blue herons, mergansers). Much of the lakeshore is state land and is undeveloped. There is no public boat launch site, and there is almost no motorboat or jet ski traffic. Our eastern shore in Lake Clear slopes very gently, so that the swimming area is perfect for children. Canoes and kayaks can be rented five minutes away at MAC's Canoe Livery. Drive ten minutes into the historic village of Saranac Lake for great Mexican food at Casa del Sol or NY style pizza at Little Italy. High quality summer community theater is offered at Pendragon, part of Saranac Lake's growing music and art scene. The excellent local library offers a large reading room with newspapers and magazines, free computer and wireless access, and a collection of videos and DVDs. You will find a second-hand bookstore with armchairs to read in, funky clothing stores and the beautiful Left Bank cafe on the Saranac River . Do not miss the region's best soft ice cream at Donnelly's Corners on the way home. Lake Placid is 25 minutes away, with great restaurants, high-end and outlet shops, and a movie theater. The Lake Placid Center for the Arts has theater, dance, music, exhibits, and a weekly film series. The Olympic Center offers ice skating shows with internationally acclaimed skaters. Annual regional events include the Horse Show, the Ironman competition, the Can-Am rugby tournament, and a host of smaller events. Hike up nearby St. Regis Mountain for spectacular views over the Canoe Wilderness Area or Ampersand Mt., with views of the Saranac Lake Chain and High Peaks Wilderness. Visit the Adirondack Visitor Interpretive Center at Paul Smith's for quiet paths along a bog, or the Wild Center in Tupper lake for a hands-on nature experience. | Security Deposit Information: | A security deposit of $ 600 for each week is due upon reservation. Should it be necessary to cancel a confirmed reservation 60 or more days prior to your arrival date, your security deposit will be forfeited. If you cancel between 60 and 30 days prior to arrival your security deposit will be forfeited plus 25% of the rental amount. Cancellations made less than 30 days prior to arrival will result in the forfeit of security plus 50% of the rental amount. |
| Rental Rates: | Peak rental rates( June 24-Sept 8 in 2012) are $2600 per week for up to 6 people and $2900 for 7-12 people.
Off-peak rates are $1900 and $2200. 10% discount for returning renters. 50% of the rent must be received two months prior to the first date of occupancy. The balance is to be paid not less than one month prior to occupancy. |
