| Description: | |
| Welcome to Creekside, located on 39-forested acres in the Adirondack Region of New York State. The property has 420 feet of waterfront on both sides of beautiful, deep, and sandy-bottomed Big Creek. The cabin itself is situated in a sunny open area just 75 feet from a bluff overlooking the creek. There are superb views of the water as well as the surrounding wild forest and rock cliffs on the opposite shore. Tall majestic pines line the bank above the waters edge. The property is quiet and very private, yet easily accessible. No other houses are visible from our property. The cabin offers a peaceful sense of being nestled in the forest by the water.
Creekside is our personal retreat and refuge, and we have devoted much love and care into creating a setting that is comfortable and attractive for both ourselves and our guests. THE CABIN: This cozy cabin is both charming and comfortable, making even rainy days into a pleasant experience. West facing French doors off the living area open wide onto the porch for stunning views of the water and the setting sun. The cabin features an open living and kitchen area, one bedroom, and an easily accessible large loft with both a sleeping area and a cozy nook for reading and relaxing. This small, intimate cabin is ideally suited for two people; four is the maximum occupancy it can comfortably hold. Parents, please be aware that the cabin is set up to accommodate adults and older children. It is not well suited to very young children. Additionally, the yard has a steep 15 foot embankment dropping abruptly into the deepest part of the creek (7 to 12 feet water depth). The creek itself is readily accessible from the shore and the dock, and has an uneven bottom with sudden drop-offs. The water level of the creek fluctuates depending upon such factors as amount of rainfall and activity of the local beaver population. Some summers the creek may be high and others the level may be lower. ABOUT CREEKSIDE: Swim, canoe, kayak and fish right here on Big Creek or on nearby rivers and lakes. When water is high, the adventuresome can take the one-mile canoe trip from the cabin downstream to the Oswegatchie River. Observe the abundant wildlife at your doorstep from a wide-ranging variety of bird-life to beaver, ducks, and fish swimming in the creek to occasional deer, turkeys, and foxes passing through. Gradual steps lead down the hillside to a swimming dock with ladder and attached bench. The dock allows for ease of swimming in the deep swimming hole on the creek plus it provides a great place to simply sit by the water. There's much to do either right here on our own property or in the vicinity. Please contact owner for their Recreation document that contains a wide variety of recreation suggestions for the area along with informative web links. THE LOCATION: We are located in the western Adirondacks just outside the park, near the village of Harrisville, New York, just 10 minutes east of Lake Bonaparte and 30 minutes west of Cranberry Lake. Situated near the border of St. Lawrence and Lewis counties, Creekside is an hour's drive from Alexandria Bay and the Thousand Islands, and forty-five minutes from the Tug Hill Plateau. The area around Harrisville has not yet been commercialized and is refreshingly rural and wild. State-owned forests are plentiful, mostly trailless, and open to exploration and discovery. Back roads often give way to dirt seasonal roads, which make for wonderful walking or bicycle forays through forests, along scenic, navigable rivers, past bogs, ponds, and waterfalls, and entire hillsides covered in wildflowers. The beauty of this area lies in its simplicity and naturalness. A number of artists have made their home in this vicinity. Their work can be found at shops in the nearby hamlet of Natural Bridge, along with several stores that specialize in the sale of antiques.
