If you're seeking solitude and privacy in a natural setting and prefer an attractive, clean, and well cared for cabin, then this is the place for you! Welcome to Creekside, located on 39-forested acres in the Adirondack Region of New York State. The property has 420 feet of waterfront on both sides of the winding sandy-bottomed Big Creek, also known as Jenny Creek. The cabin itself is situated in a sunny open area surrounded on all sides by dense evergreen forest just 75 feet from a bluff overlooking the creek. Tall majestic pines line the bank above the waters edge. Gradual steps lead down the embankment to the creek. The property is quiet and private, yet easily accessible. No other houses are visible from our property in any direction. The view across the creek is of unspoiled forest with rock cliffs to the north. Creekside offers a peaceful sense of being nestled in the forest by the water.

Creekside is our personal retreat and refuge, and we have devoted much love and care into creating a setting that is comfortable and attractive for both ourselves and our guests.

This cozy cabin is both charming and comfortable, making even rainy days into a pleasant experience. West facing French doors off the living area open wide onto the screened porch for views of the water and the setting sun. The cabin features a cathedral ceiling over an open living and kitchen area, one bedroom, plus a handcrafted log staircase leads to an easily accessible full-height loft with both a sleeping area and a cozy nook for reading and relaxing. This small, intimate cabin is ideally suited for two people; four is the maximum occupancy.

PARENTS: please be aware that the cabin is set up to accommodate adults and older children. It is not well suited for very young children. Additionally, the yard has a steep 15 foot embankment dropping abruptly into the deepest part of the creek (6 to 10 feet or more water depth depending upon overall creek levels at any given time). The creek itself is readily accessible from the shore and the dock, and has an uneven bottom with sudden drop-offs.

Canoe, kayak and fish right here on Big Creek or on nearby rivers and lakes. When water is high, the adventuresome can take the one-mile canoe trip from the cabin downstream to the Oswegatchie River. Observe the abundant wildlife at your doorstep from a wide-ranging variety of bird-life to beaver, mink, ducks, and fish swimming in the creek to occasional deer, turkeys, and foxes passing through. The water level of the creek fluctuates throughout the season depending upon such factors as amount of rainfall in the mountains and activity of the local beaver population.

There's much to do either right here on our own property or in the vicinity. Please contact owner for their Recreation document that contains a wide variety of recreation suggestions for the area along with informative web links.

We are located in the western Adirondacks just outside the park, near the village of Harrisville, New York, just 15 minutes east of Lake Bonaparte and 30 minutes west of Wanakena and Cranberry Lake. Situated near the border of St. Lawrence and Lewis counties, Creekside is an hour's drive from Alexandria Bay and the Thousand Islands, one hour from Canada and the International Bridge at Ogdensburg, and forty-five minutes from the Tug Hill Plateau.

The area around Harrisville has not yet been commercialized and is refreshingly rural and wild. State-owned forests are plentiful, mostly trailless, and open to exploration and discovery. Back roads often give way to dirt seasonal roads, which make for wonderful walking or bicycle forays through forests, along scenic, navigable rivers, past bogs, ponds, and waterfalls, and entire hillsides covered in wildflowers. The beauty of this area lies in its simplicity and naturalness. A number of artists have made their home in this vicinity.

I just wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed our 2-week stay at your cabin. We were surprised to find that you had thought of every little thing we could possibly need. We've rented cabins and villas and condos in the past and this was the most comfortable and well thought out place we've ever stayed. .............M & R, Syracuse, NY

All I can say is Wow! What a spectacular setting and such accommodations I never expected. Not to worry we will take good care of your Eden. I'm hoping we can do this again next year. As the designated cook in this party I just want to say how impressed I am with the way the cabin has been equipped. Thanks again for sharing your oasis with us..........D & B, Merritt Island, FL

We were so apprehensive when we went to the internet to find a cabin to replace our yearly camping events. It is so hard to work from pictures and phone conversations. Little did we know we would be coming to a cabin that looked like it was right out of ADIRONDACK LIFE magazine! Thank you again for sharing your beautiful cabin with us. You obviously give so many people some wonderful memories to take home. ..........L & M, Macedon, NY

Thank you again for such a thoughtfully put together hideaway. The screened porch makes it even better. We were out there ALL the time! .......... L & P, Phoenix, NY

The cabin is clearly built for our purposes - to temporarily and blissfully forget the saturation of human impact found only in NJ. It was a memorable week here. Goodbye cabin - thanks for the fish!............P & N, Skillman, NJ

(From a late autumn guest): Thank you for our wonderful stay at Creekside. I would love to come back in the summer sometime and take advantage of the canoe and all the natural beauty that surrounds your place. The cabin is just lovely, with so many thoughtful touches -- and everything was so clean, neat, efficient, well made, well labeled and in such good working order -- it really is a beautiful and special place............G.B., San Francisco, CA

We couldn't have picked a better place for our honeymoon. This stay has been so relaxing. We hope to come back to this spot. It is very special to us, and it's obvious that it's special to the owners. Thank you for sharing!...........K & S, Randolph, NY

What a relaxing and restful week. Your cabin is perfect with everything we could ever need. We've stayed in many places throughout the Adirondacks and this place is definitely a bargain. Loved the privacy here. Thanks for sharing your little bit of paradise!.........E & J, Syracuse, NY

Meet the Owner(s)

About Us: We can't get enough of nature! We live on a mountain in a semi-rural area of upstate NY. We've both worked in the human service field and spend as much time as life permits out of doors in nature, whether it's gardening, hiking, biking, painting, or motorcycling. Nature feeds our spirits. After many years of canoe camping throughout the Adirondacks, we impetuously decided to buy a place of our own. Our hearts ache whenever we have to pack up and drive the five hours to home.

Why we think you will enjoy staying in Harrisville: In making our decision we knew two things - our top priority was a private natural setting followed closely by having some kind of water nearby. We found both in Creekside. Although not as widely advertised as other parts of the ADK's, for those interested in exploring beyond the beaten path and the crowds, this area holds lots of hidden natural treasures. Ask about our Recreation document with lots of web links to a variety of activities. We're also not far from Canada!

Why our property is special: One of our favorite places to be is sitting with a cup of tea or coffee on the Adirondack chairs overlooking the creek. We have our binoculars with us, no place else to go, just waiting for wildlife to show up whether it's in the form of an interesting bird song, the beavers paddling quietly upstream, gazing at the changing colors of a sunset, or just watching the leaves turn color in the autumn - this is the life!
