| Why book a motel room next time you come to Malone to ski or golf when you can be in a country estate setting within 6 miles of the village? Snowshoe or hike on our trails right out your door!
Accessed by way of a 1/2 mile private road, our newer year-round cottage sits on a knoll overlooking a favorite deer meadow. Although it is not far from the main house, Deer View Cottage has its own spur driveway and the setting is private. No "rustic" interior in this cottage! Enjoy a master bedroom suite with quality linens, plush bath rugs and jacuzzi bath. Both the master bedroom and the smaller guest bedroom have queen size beds. The master bathroom has tub and shower. The smaller bedroom bathroom has toilet and sink only. With the exception of a dishwasher, the IKEA kitchen has all modern conveniences and you will find coffee, tea and condiments. We do have Dish TV reception, a DVD player and high speed wireless internet connection. There is however, no land phone connection so a cell phone is recommended. Area Highlights: There is so much to do every season here. We will have Chamber of Commerce information waiting for you but let us know ahead of time if you would like us to research a particular pursuit. If you can, check out the community calendar on ncpr.org this tends to be a good source of events for both the local and larger geographic region. The cottage is within a 20-30 minute drive from some of the best fishing, canoeing and kayaking in the Adirondacks on Deer River Flow and Horseshoe Pond. A little further south brings you to Lake Meacham Beach and the Osgood River flow. This area has several hiking trails as well. If you do not have kayaks, we have 2 available. We are within 60 minutes of Saranac Lake, an additional 15 minutes to Lake Placid and 30-40 minutes from the Adirondack Visitor Interpretive Center. In the other direction we are conveniently located within 15-20 minutes of the 36 hole Malone Golf course with restaurant and the Titus Mt. Ski Center with 27 trails, 2 lodges, tubing, snowboarding and night skiing. Potsdam (site of SUNY) and the Village of Massena are located appx 45 minutes to the west. If your taste is more cultural international traveling, we are within 2 hours driving time to both Montreal and Ottawa and less than 1 hour from Cornwall. Regs on US/Canadian Border Crossing: Please be aware that a passport or NYS ENHANCED driver's license is now needed at the US/Canadian border crossing. If you don't already have a passport and you are a US Citizen AND a NYS Resident, the least expensive form of ID to use is the NYS enhanced driver's license. This can be obtained at a DMV office. There is no need to wait for your license renewal date, you can apply at any time. The NYS Enhanced Driver's License can also be used instead of a passport at other specific land and sea border crossings as well (Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean) so may prove useful for other travel as well.
