| Direct access to the beautiful Eastern shoreline of south Schroon Lake is rare, but this property has it! No need to cross the road to get to the water! Walk out the door and you can enjoy your private 110 feet of shoreline, complete with dock, float, and a tiny beach (although sometimes the lake water is unreasonably high and the beach is covered, so please do not count on it. However, the bottom is sandy, not rocky.).
The cabin is nestled among tall pine trees and the front porch enjoys a delightful view of the lake. This is a quiet part of Schroon Lake: there is a speed limit for boats and the Word of Life Bible Institute is across the lake (hidden behind the trees), so there are not many houses and docks to distract your view. Small woods separate you from your neighbors on either side (although you can see portions of their houses because the deer have eaten some of the lower branches) and the road along the lake (and its traffic noise) is a good distance away. The cabin itself is "Adirondack rustic" built in the 1950's, but comfortable and clean. While no one likes to stay inside, if it starts to rain, there are several nice places to curl up and read a book or chat. The cabin, unlike some, has a coherent decor in keeping with its surroundings. Of course, if the weather is nice, you will want to be outside enjoying our yard and the water. There is a single bedroom on the first floor and a master bedroom upstairs (double bed) and a larger bedroom with two double beds and a single bed across the hall. There is a comfortable living room/dining room. The kitchen has all the necessary appliances (except dishwasher) and is fully functional, but the sink and the cabinets will remind you of your grandmother's era. Counter space is limited, so if there are more than a couple of cooks, you may have to take turns chopping vegetables. For cold mornings, there is a vented propane-fueled heater in the Living Room that does a good job of bringing that room up to a nice temperature, and a reasonable job of warming up the rest of the house. The house is not "winterized" so it is suitable for use only during the late spring, summer, and early fall. We limit the number of people who can stay at the cabin to 6 because there is only one bathroom, and we believe that there is a limit to how long one should have to wait in line for a shower! However, the bathroom is fully functional, even if it is a little quaint. It has a claw foot tub that has been outfitted with a shower (complete with a colorful shower curtain). The front porch facing the lake has a table that seats 4 for meals or games. There is an old fashioned metal glider that seats three ( I proposed to my wife there) and a single-sized cot where more than one nap has been taken on a lazy afternoon. The yard has a picnic table plus chairs to enjoy the water view and the sunsets. This is a great place to relax in relative privacy and enjoy the direct access to the water with your children and grandchildren! For those who feel the need to stay in touch at least a little with the outside world, there is cable TV (but not HBO), a DVD player, and a high speed internet modem for wired and wireless internet access. The Adirondack store, 3 miles away, sells the New York Times. (My wife has suggested to me that if I need more than this, I am really not on vacation!) Note: Location: Only about three miles from Exit 26 (mile 77) on the Northway (I-87) at Pottersville. Easy access to Glens Falls and Albany, south on the Northway. Cabin is less than a mile from the South end of the lake and is on the East Side. There are some interesting caves a few minutes away, and day trips to Fort Ticonderoga, Ausable Chasm (tubing, scenic walks, etc.) and even Vermont are easily taken. RESTRICTION: No fires are allowed except in the fireplace, which is at the back of the house and NOT near the lake. Because of the surrounding woods, fires outside of the fireplace (such as near the Lake) are extremely hazardous and are not allowed. |

| Cleaning Policy: | Renters are asked to leave the house in good condition. However, cleaning is provided by the owner after each use. Nevertheless, renters will be charged for any special problems (such as excessive pet fur) that cause the cleaning cost to be more than usual. Trash pickup is provided at the end of each week. |
| Linen Policy: | Renters are required to bring their own sheets and towels, including kitchen towels. Renters may also wish to bring their own bathroom rug and bathmat. There is no washing machine on the premises; however, there is a laundrymat in Schroon Lake Village (15 minutes away).
Also, bring life vests for children. Also bring extra fans if the weather is going to be excessively hot. |
