| Set in the foothills of the northern Adirondack Mountains of New York State not far from Paul Smiths College, is Ah! Wilderness! - an immaculate and intimate lakeside bungalow and guest house owned by the same family since the late 1800s. Thoroughly renovated, this rustic-feel lakeside camp provides an updated context for a quiet, intimate or romantic escape. It sleeps 4 persons, and is offered for rent on a limited basis from late May through September, when colors are plentiful. Calm and warm days characterize September, the driest season in the Adirondacks. A private, gated road leads to a small hidden parking area well behind the camp giving the visitor the convenience of car access, with a boat-access-only feeling.The knotty pine kitchen sits directly on the lake and is especially charming with 2" thick cherry countertops of planks taken from the property. There is a dishwasher, a commercial Jenn-Air gas stove french door refrigerator, and a kitchen wood stove.; there is also a shelf-lined pantry. The dining area is adjacent, with a wrought iron chandelier, vintage English cottage table and antique rush chairs. The dining area opens into the large living area which has pitched and rough-cut paneled ceilings and comfortable furnishings as well as a Vermont Casting wood stove. There is a good reading library and an i-Pod dock with JBL and KLH speakers. A Dutch Door leads from the living room to a cedar, benched sun deck over the lake. Attached steps descend to the large dock with slip and spring fed Lake Titus. Boat launching, or a rental are available via a purveyor across the lake. In addiion to the kitchen/dining and living spaces, the main camp houses a master bedroom with queen-sized bed under a star-gazing skylight and adjacent complete modern bathroom which includes a shower/tub/ antique marble sink surround, and colorful stenciled walls. A small deck separates the main camp from the guest cottage which comprises two bedrooms one of which is reserved for the owners' personal property. For renters, the available bedroom is comfortably furnished with a double bed, and the adjacent bath is adequately appointed. There is zoned electric heat throughout the main camp. Water is drawn directly from the lake and its use is limited to cooking and washing. Enough potable water is provided for your day of arrival. It is ten miles to an excellent Price-Chopper grocery store, which has (very surprisingly) excellent seafood (much of it Canadian), and a very good green-grocery at the store augments the nearby farm-stand fare. Use of the laundry facilities is limited. The camp is not generally accessible to the handicapped. | |

| Security Deposit Information: | A $400 security deposit is required at time of reservation. The $1,300 per week rental fee is required 3 weeks in advance of move-in date. If reservation is cancelled 4 weeks (28 days) in advance, the security deposit will be returned; after 28 days, the prepaid weekly rental fee will be returned ,but the security deposit is forfeited. |
