| If you are looking for a relatively quiet relaxing vacation, Star Lake is the place for you. The cottage is nestled in a completely forested setting in a private location in the center of 468 feet of shoreline on this property. The furnished rooms on the first floor include a kitchen, dining room, bedroom with queen bed, living room, bathroom, and utility room with washer, dryer, iron and ironing board. There is a second floor open loft which contains a doublebed, 3 single beds and a day bed. The living room and loft have overhead fans for cooling. The cottage has a living rooom gas log fireplace for you to enjoy and to provide heat on cold days or nights.
Star Lake is somewhat star shaped, due to a number of coves and bays positioned around the lake, and has approximately 5 miles of shoreline. The lake is also divided in half by a peninsula with only a fifty foot wide channel connecting the two main halves of the lake. The lake is very pretty as the shoreline is very irregular and dotted with cottages set in a forested background. The crystal clear water is used as the water supply for the hamlet of Star Lake. The lake is relatively quiet most of the time as the properties around the lake are privately owned, and there is only carry-on access for canoes for the general public. The privately owned watercrafts on the lake are canoes, kayaks, sailboats, small motor boats and mororized rafts. Activities on Star Lake include swimming, boating and fishing. The species of fish in the lake include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, lake trout, brown trout, rainbow trout, and smelt. A challenging nine hole golf course is located in the center of the hamlet of Star Lake and there are a number of marked hiking trails nearlby. One series of trails through the woods along an 8.6 miles stretch of Tooley Pond Road, located about one half hour from Srar Lake, lead you to seven different waterfalls located on the Grasse River. Star Lake is centrally located for day trips to other prominent points of interest such as the Thousand Islands, The Wild Center Natural History Museum in Tupper Lake, Lake Placid, and the St. Lawrence River locks in Massena. | Cleaning Policy: | You will be required to pay a "cleaning/damage" deposit of $100 which will be refunded to you at departure, after satisfactory inspection of the cottage. You will be expected to leave the cottage in the same clean condition as when you arrived. Renters are expected to empty the refrigerator and kitchen trash can, wash all dishes, broom sweep, leave furniture and amenities where they were found upon arrival, and otherwise leave the cottage tidy, organized and ready for our cleaning service. A detailed departure checklist is posted in t;he cottage. |
