| The Gray Barn is a property overlooking Lake Champlain offering a beautiful getaway. It is located on a 50 acre parcel composed of pastures, woodland, and 500 feet of lake frontage shared by no one but its visitors and those caring for the property. The Gray Barn is roughly in the center of the property. It is set about 1000 feet back from the lakefront.
The Gray Barn was built in the late 1800's and was used as the milking barn for the large farm that occupied the majority of Furnace Point at that time. There were stanchions for the half dozen cows that provided for the dairy needs of the farm family and its employees. In the early 1970's, the last of the hay and other implements were removed and the barn was remodeled into a most unique residence. Footpaths wind through acres of pasture, ponds, lakefront, an old orchard and a newly established vineyard. The many wild deer, foxes, turkey, hedgehogs, and other neighbors also use them, or have made paths of their own. The Gray Barn has a full kitchen and an outdoor patio area with a gas grill and woodburning firepit. The Gray Barn is a five minute walk from Normandie Beach Resort which has water activities such as sailing, kayaking, canoeing and swimming. It is open to the public for daily use. It also has the Coco Cafe for breakfast, lunch and dinner and entertainment on the weekends. Although the Gray Barn is secluded, it is located just one mile from the heart of the village with its shops, restaurants, the town library, public golf course, polo club and the Depot Theatre which offers broadway-style entertainment throughout the summer. For convenience, Amtrak has its own station at Westport. Because we are in the county, we are not on a public sewer system so we ask our guests to be considerate and to conserve water.
