About Us: Lynn and Jim Cameron have lived year-round on Upper St. Regis Lake for 35 years. Jim has built more traditional Adirondack Guideboats than any other living builder - 27 of them - all numbered. We raise Samoyeds - the smiling white Christmas dogs of the far North - and find folks who travel with their pets have well-behaved ones.
Why we think you will enjoy staying in Upper St. Regis Lake: We are pleased to offer all outdoor enthusiasts the adventure this special haven offers. https://getpocket.com/explore/item/the-healing-power-of-nature Paddlers love this place, and so do their dogs. There are several suggested canoe outings accessible right from Ted's private dock - no car-topping needed plus we provide a high quality boat for the purpose. Wildlife abounds as the serenity of Ted's Cabin draws them. Nights have few lights & your stress melts away after a day of paddling.
Why our property is special: Ted's Cabin is the only hideaway especially for couples available on this beautiful lake with large "Great Camps" dotting the shoreline. The absence of light pollution allows for a brilliant night sky display you will love. There are docking facilities at Ted's for a motorboat if you have your own. We provide directions to our private canoe dock to access the trail up St. Regis Mountain. Right from your dock, you can do a RT paddle that includes 3 lakes and a river with just one long carry.

“My husband, our puppy, our cat and I all had a terrific adventure at Teds Cabin. The weather had finished raining before we arrived, so our days were gorgeous. The reality of a wet summer is bugs, so come armed! The amenities of the cabin were complete - canoe, life jackets, dog throw toy, coffee maker, grill, fridge. Our hosts Lynn, Jim and their capable assistant Markus were so kind to ferry us to our social gatherings on the lake and help us with runs to town. It is not exaggeration, this area is very dependent on small boats, so if you are bringing pets, make your stay more relaxing by acquainting them with boats, shorelines, waves before you come. Our cat is accustomed to travel - and his life always made sense as we travel with his kitty litter box and his food (changing as little as possible to what is normal for him). The cabin is cozy but well appointed - books if there is a rain shower, plenty of towels - both showering and lake swimming. We really had a splendid time and met some fantastic people in the area. Old time relaxation and fun.”
“Oh Katie, it is very good to read this lengthy and newsy review of Ted's Cabin. We are still talking about your fabulous wild cat - and his gorgeous white shepherd attendant. We were pleased to be able to provide for your needs during your stay with us, and your observation about our dependency on small boats is so spot on. Lynn, Jim and Marcus”

“We had a lovely time here! There were a lot of people on the lake and in the camps around us, but we had a lot of privacy as well. It was a great opportunity to just slow down and enjoy one another's company, and enjoy being alone but not isolated. The accommodations were comfortable, modest, and manageable, and it was cozy without being cramped. I wished the porch was screened in because we were there at the height of mosquito season (it had rained all June and we were there into the first week of July) and spent a bit of time more or less trapped in the house because of the bugs, but at any other time of year it's probably worth it just so the views are unimpeded. Our phones only intermittently connected from the very end of the dock, and I would have been worried about how cut off we were except that there were other people all around, so if there was an emergency we could have used the old-fashioned method of shouting for help, so there was absolutely no need to have our phones working. And yet, other people's conversations didn't bother us, and nobody could see onto the porch or into the windows. It was very freeing without being worrying. (Because, of course, if your phone connects, you're just going to have to check your email just in case, and just answer a quick one, and before you know it you've spent your whole vacation working...) It took us about a half an hour of paddling to get to the dock and our car, in the provided canoe, which meant we only made the journey once or twice. Nice to be able to, but nice to have that little barrier to temptation as well. We paddled all around the lake-- I had some canoe experience from childhood, but my partner had never been in a canoe at all before, and we were able to figure it out just fine. It was fantastic, really good fun and decent exercise without being dangerously difficult. The binder of suggested excursions was fantastic, too! We only did some light trekking, but the notes were invaluable, and helped us a lot. It's a comfortable cabin in a great location, with all the amenities you need; I recommend it highly to any pair of people who really enjoy spending time together and like some moderate to heavy physical activity. There was a TV but we never even bothered turning it on. The sunsets and sunrises and everything in between (and, on two of the nights, it was clear enough for stargazing from the dock!) were entertainment enough!”
“Thank you so much for this comprehensive review with a take on the location that we hadn't considered - safe privacy for those adventurers who are somewhat new to immersion in Nature. We appreciate your feedback and hope you may feel moved to return in 2020 to try a few more paddling excursions and build more memories. Lynn and Jim Cameron”

“Lovely, well appointed, cabin on the lake! We really enjoyed an unplugged weekend in the Adirondacks hiking and canoeing. I think one thing I didnt realize was that the only way to get anywhere is by canoe. But it was fun and relaxing. Hosts are warm and friendly and live right in the lake as well. We hiked St. Regis Mt which is beautiful and also the 7 carries which is canoeing between Adirondack lakes and ponds. Each more beautiful than the next! Definitely an experience!”
“Sherri and Lance, thank you for the detail in your kind review. We seem, finally, to be tumbling headlong into summer. As you know, ALL seasons in the Adirondacks are to be admired and enjoyed. We hope you join us again in the Fall when the new green leaves now emerging flame. Lynn and Jim”

“Sometimes, photos in a rental listing make a place look a lot nicer than the reality that confronts you when you arrive. The photos on this site are the opposite: as nice as the pictures are, they do not convey half of the beauty and coziness of this cabin. This lake is a very special place and Ted's cabin is an excellent vantage point from which you can enjoy all of the things that make the lake unique. This is the second time my wife and I have enjoyed staying in this cabin and I hope it won't be the last.”
“Thanks so much for this fine review, Mr. Hamilton. Hopefully, this early in the season, it will inspire those couples looking for a lakeside retreat in the mountains and to find time for themselves in Ted's open summer calendar. Lynn”

“Ted's cabin is a wonderful little spot on one the loveliest lakes in the Adirondacks. The cabin is small but ingeniously laid out so that there is a place for everything that you want to do. The views are beautiful all around: Lake and woods. There is a trail that connects to multiple walking trails on state forest land right out back- and there is all of the St. Regis Canoe area to explore by paddlers. We have stayed here both in summer (several years ago) and this spring, when the weather was still quite chilly. The cabin is snug and comfortable in all kinds of weather-Our dog was happy to curl up on her bed next to the stove on a rainy day. The porch is lovely place to sit and watch the loons swim by, or star-gaze at night. Great little get-away for those who like to walk and paddle, or just sit and read a book.”
“Thank you so much for expressing your satisfaction so completely. It's always gratifying to know that our valued guests are partaking in all the special offerings so conveniently available at this lakeside venue - Ted's Cabin. We hope to welcome you back again whenever circumstances might allow. Lynn and Jim Cameron”

“Fantastic cabin! This little cabin has everything you need as far as sleeping, cooking utensils and shower needs. The location can't be beat! There is a cute little deck to eat out on overlooking the lake. We very much enjoyed our stay, kayaking and fishing every day. We even paddled to the St Regis path and hiked up to the firetower. The sheets were high end and we slept like babies during our stay here. This is a very quiet area of the lake and it was a great place to recharge. We will definitely stay again.”
“Thanks, Andrea, for the great review. I'm so pleased we're living up to our previous reputation with your group. My Swedish cousin very much enjoyed your including him in your fun activities. He will be back in 2019 and it appears that you will, as well. I do so appreciate your comment on the linens. Lynn and Jim.”

“Our stay at Ted's Cabin was magnificent as usual! Our hosts were prompt picking us up to bring all our stuff over to the water access-only house. The cabin was clean, neat and ready to enjoy! The bed was comfy and the kitchen and bath were adequate. Swimming off the dock was great fun, however the dock needs repair. The porch was a spectacular place to rest, read books and enjoy the amazing scenery. The grill worked great for our salmon & chicken gourmet meals, :) along with the cute outdoor table and umbrella. The loons are so special each year, we just love them! The location of Ted's Cabin is just perfect for us to paddle the Upper St. Regis, complete the 5 Carries, hike through the forest in back of the cabin back to the landing, up St. Regis Mountain and other nearby peaks. Also, some great breweries and restaurants are near-by! The owners are always responsive to our questions or concerns and we enjoy catching up with them each year. All-in-all, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ted's Cabin taking in the quiet, peaceful, step-back-in-time cozy place we call home each year. We will definitely be back next year! Thank you very much! ~Beth & Steve”
“Thank you for such a comprehensive to-do list for our future guests. You two just get more energetic every year. We are so pleased to welcome you each season and look forward to 2019. Kindest regards, Lynn & Jim. p.s. The dock will be above water level next season, for sure”

“Great stay! Comfortable bed. Very clean. Rustic but we'll equipped. Friendly owners. Great base camp for overnights or day trips into the St. Regis Canoe Wilderness. 20 minute paddle to the landing. I'll be back again! Thank you Jim and Lynn for another great stay at Ted's!”
“Thanks, Suzanne, for another to-the-point review. You and your dog, Otis, are always most welcome summer guests. Next year I'll show you two more day adventures right from Ted's dock. Lynn and Jim.”

“While we have been coming to Upper St. Regis for years, this was our first time renting Ted's Cabin. Jim & Lynn are such great hosts, they always go the extra mile to make sure that your stay is great. The cabin has everything that you will need for your stay and like so many camps in this area it has history in its bones... You can always expect a variety of weather here and over our 4 days we had a little bit of everything. We downloaded some movies ahead of time and brought books for a rainy day and enjoyed just staying in during the rain. The cabin is very clean and comfortable. There are trails that you can walk right out the door which we enjoyed with our dogs. The well water supplied by Jim & Lynn is delicious and plentiful. We planned simple meals and used the propane grill for convenience. The porch has a lot of room to sit and the views are wonderful. We also bought some camp wood on our way in and enjoyed a campfire one night. Even on a popular weekend such as Labor Day the lake is not very busy (except for the sailboat race which was wonderful to watch)! Truly a slice of heaven on earth. We will be back.”
“Hello, Thank you so much for this comprehensive and so complimentary review for your stay with us last week at Ted's Cabin. Your well-mannered dogs have little impact on the property; we love being a dog-friendly place. Folks tend to leave problem pets at home, we have observed. You mentioned at departure your intention to return to Upper St. Regis, perhaps to a larger camp. Find here a mobile-friendly link to Northpoint Camp just across the Lake from Ted's Cabin. https://adirondackfamilycamp.com/ Gather like-minded friends and pop up for Autumn colors as seen from the cozy living room if need be. Columbus Day is peak color and can be sunny. Best regards, Lynn and Jim”

“I stayed here for a long weekend in 2012, or thereabouts. I think of that trip again and again. Despite traveling the world, there is something about seeing all those stars from a waterside fire at that secluded cabin. Loons and eagles, ancient sailboats. We were there when the blueberries were ripe. It's magical. I'm thinking it's time to return.”
“Oh my, your review out-of-the- blue like this choked me up! Thank you, Ko Barrett, for this heartfelt accolade. The magic still calls from deep in the Adirondacks - the freshest breath of air you will find anywhere in all the world as you say yourself. Our early discount prices and availability may bring you back to us. Yes, we invite your return - treat yourself to some secluded R&R at Ted's Cabin this summer, Ko. It's been too long!”

“We had a wonderful week stay here in July 2016. The cabin is small but beautiful, and the setting is unbelievably lovely. You are surrounded on all sides by enormous, beautiful Adirondack Great Camps, which makes for wonderful exploring around the lake in your canoe. The setting is unbelievably marvelous. Nothing compares to having coffee on the dock, watching the sun rise and listening to the loons. It was a magical week, and I wanted it to be twice as long. We are planning to return next year for a longer stay. The hosts are great, friendly and accessible. While you could easily spend an entire week curled up in an Adirondack chair watching the light on the lake, you can also have a very active vacation here. The paddling in the area is amazing. If you like to hike as well as paddle, there are plenty of hikes reachable by canoe from the cabin, and a nice short hike leading straight from the back yard to a beautiful pond. The one thing I would have done differently was bring more boats! The canoe is perfect for exploring the lake and not too heavy for short portages, but a small packboat would have been great for exploring some areas with longer portages and I was wishing I had brought my small sailboat, as the wind on the lake was perfect for sailing. It's hard to find dog-friendly properties, and the cabin is a great place to stay if you enjoy having fun with your dog. Between playing fetch off the dock and hikes from the canoe, our dog had a marvelous time, and is probably still plotting how to get us to quit our jobs and move there full-time. I was a bit nervous that we would find a water access camp limiting, but this worry proved groundless. The 20-30 minute paddle back to our car was a snap, and the canoe provided at the cabin is perfect for hauling anything you might have forgotten to pack back from a supply run. (It is also, at it turns out, the perfect boat to train your dog to ride in a canoe, nice and steady.) In short, the cabin is perfect for anyone looking for a beautiful bit of quiet lake wilderness, with all the comforts of a snug cabin. Overall, one of the best Adirondack trips I've ever taken, and I'm already planning our return! ”
“Dear Erica, We are delighted the three of you had such a great time at Ted's Cabin and submitted such a positive and detailed review, too. Return guests are the ultimate success for us, and we will be pleased to welcome you in 2017.”

“My boyfriend and I stayed at Ted's Cabin for the second time in 2 years, and again it was a magical stay! You cannot beat the location - The cabin is set right on the lake. It is quiet and tranquil, and the perfect way to unwind from the city. The views are spectacular. The cabin has all the essentials you will need. It is cosy and comfortable - perfect for a couple. It comes with your own canoe, which is a great way to explore the surrounding area. There are great hikes right on your doorstep, and climbing to the top of Upper St Regis Mountain is a must! The owners are super friendly and accommodating - we will definitely be back again next year!”
“Thanks to both of you for being the valued repeat guests that you are. We look forward to your visit in 2016. Kind regards from Lynn and Jim.”

“Such an incredible relaxing week-end in Ted's cabin! If you really want to disconnect with everything and recharge your batteries, here is the place to stay. Just sit on the deck, ear the loons and the wind, have a drink, take a nap, read a book or have fun on the lake with the kayak, Ted's cabin is the perfect place to be in romantic mood and enjoy life. Lyne and Jim are so welcoming and nice (and fun!), the cabin is so cool, that you'll probably want to go back as soon as you'll leave it! ”
“Thank you, Julien and Jean, for the great review. We are lucky to have you so close to us - less than 2 hrs. North as our Montreal, Canada neighbors. Come back soon! Lynn and Jim”
