6912 Cedar Grove Way, Huletts Landing, NY 12841
Lake George Region Vacation Rentals — LISTING ID: VR5518
Let's take a kayak FROM Quincy or Nyack!, Let's Get Away From It All! ;
BUT Please do NOT bring a kayak to my LG log cabin! (see below text re: dock space.)
Log Cabin nestled in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains, on the edge of "Indian Bay" at the family-resort area of Hulett's Landing, N.Y. on Lake George, nestled in a corner of the Bay with magnificent views to Lake George & surrounding Adirondack Mountains.
Hulett's Landing is a Community located on the EAST side of Lake George, abo …ut halfway up the lake; 45 minutes from Lake George Village, 20 minutes from Whitehall, NY, 30 minutes (south) of Ticonderoga, N.Y., and half hour to VERMONT and its many attractions.
You can challenge yourself to an Adirondack hike, with just a short drive to parking spot for Black Mountain climb,......OR fish or swim right off the dock in front of the cabin.
Porch bedroom has a QUEEN bed, and back bedroom has QUEEN bed;
plus TWO Single/Twin day-bed /couches and sofa in the living room,
proximate to the floor-to-ceiling-fieldstone fireplace and entertainment center
that houses color TV, VHS+DVD + CD Player.
Front Porch bedroom located off screened-in front porch; both of which have magnificent views,
including that of "Rock Dunder Island" at the mouth of "Indian Bay."
The front Porch bedroom has a huge picture window, closed off by floor-to-ceiling curtains that can be opened to the setting sun or the morning mists...with gorgeous views of Lake George and the Adirondack Mountains.!
A LG 10,000 BTU Air Conditioner makes the views all that much better on hotter days!, located to the left of the magnificent fieldstone fireplace and which will cool down the entire cabin.
Our renovated "room-under-the-porch" has a bunk-bed making for this additional sleeping area; if you will, a "THIRD BEDROOM". Yet this area is NOT proximate to a bathroom & can get especially too warm + humid during the summer months. Installation of dehumidifier in the cellar has rectified this somewhat.
The dock immediately in front of the cabin, some 50 yards down from the cabin, is available for your use,
BUT there is NO spot for mooring watercraft of any sort; other than at my boat spot at the N.E. corner of our dock (which is large enough to moor a 22 foot boat.).
Furthermore, the two wooden platforms and the lakefront property which is just up from the dock, between my property & LG, belong to our neighbors, and these platforms are off-limits to one's use.
Two paths from our property lead down towards Lake George:
The path more parallel to our cabin leads only to the cellar area, & is currently blocked off by 3 Home Depot orange buckets leading down toards the lake.
The Second Path, further away from the cabin and also framed by our relatively-new rail fence, leads to the the "community path" leading to our community dock & Lake George down from our stone barbecue area.
Walking distance to get to:
* Indian Bay swim beach * Public marina that sells boat gas and essential groceries
* County Park with swim beach AND lifeguards + tennis courts & basketball court & playground & barbecue grills & fresh well water & public toilets & dressing areas.
= This public beach is ONLY such beach on East side of Lake George!
Looking at the attached "Google" Map, note that:
= "Cedar Grove Way" is a direct Left off of Route 6B. (#6B, also known as "Bluff Head Road;" )
= "Mountain View" Road to "Sunset Bay" Road is the short walk from the cabin to the NYS Public Beach.
BUT no car can take this route, to the nearby NYS Public Beach, "Hulett's Park," & the nearby Hulett's Marina..
* Public Nine-hole Golf Course. * Old-fashioned soda fountain. * Casino Bar for p.m. activities!
* U.S. Post Office. * Catholic & Protestant Churches.

About Us: This cabin has been in our family for over 60 years, with many prior families having rented this cabin & having loved Hulett's Landing on Lake George so much that they became Hulett's property owners elsewhere. NO reply if you do NOT include your phone number in your inital inquiry. Thanks.
Why we think you will enjoy staying in Huletts Landing: ....away from the maddening crowd!, terrific family resort area, with plenty of things to do.; with DVD/VCR Player with plenty of DVDs + VHSs & CDs to enjoy. * The public beach Proximity is Terrific! @ Others who spent their first Lake George summers at Hulett's included: = a young Arnie Galbraith with his siblings Diane & PU '62 Brian + parents. = The Artie & Theresa Pell + Tom & Florence Trimboli + Tom Portella families; Also: = Dr. Jack & Mrs. Monique Rosen + Dr. Bill & Susan Moss.
Why our property is special: Cabin has all the fixings of a true Adirondack camp; yet the attributes of a modern residence. Away from the Maddening Crowd, BUT close to all that counts! = most especially, to Lake George! With your proximity to the Lake George public beach (see photo herein), if not also the proximity of dock in front of the cabin, you have Lake George at its finest. AND "Indian Bay" is one of the absolutely finest bays on Lake George.

“Loved this cabin, which is located on a quite and protected cove just north of Huletts Marina, great for swimming, kayaking, and snorkeling with the kids. During hot summer nights, cabin does offer AC which many rentals do not offer. It is conveniently located near the public beach and park as well. Great experience with the owner in scheduling, very accommodating. This rental will not disappoint, but you must coordinate with the owner in advance if you intend to bring your own boat, there may not be dock space available at the house. ”
“Ed, my last-minute rental! Thanks so much for your revew and only sorry that our time together was so abbreviated. Here's to a wonderful completion of the summer of 2019 for your & your family. Jim”

“My husband and two year old had simply the most magical week staying here. The property is beautifully located, with a nice sized flat, grassy area for evening fires and lake gazing and screened in porch for dining. The Adirondack chairs that overlook the lake and make for the perfect place to sip your morning coffee. Our little girl simply loved spending time on the dock, looking at the fish, ducks, and other wildlife. We cooked quite a bit while here and felt the kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need. For dinners, we would prep at the dining room table which offered a little more space, with a beautiful fire burning in the background. Pure heaven. For rainy days there is an incredible DVD and VHS collection, complete with tons of Disney and children's movies. The bedroom off the porch is like something from a dream -- it's large window overlooking the water swallows up this cozy room, making for the perfect awakening each morning. The surrounding cabins all have a very campy, nostalgic feel and leave you wishing to call it your own. I highly recommend trying to rent a boat for at least a day or two so that you may experience the lake and all it has to offer. One of our favorite things to do was dock up to one of the nearby islands and enjoy a late lunch or early dinner while the sun began to set in the pink sky -- just be sure to have your boat docked back at it's home before it gets too dark! This was simply one of the most beautiful and relaxing vacations we have ever enjoyed and are grateful for the opportunity to stayed at the Shyrewood Cabin. ”

“Very clean, comfortable and cozy Adirondack cabin! Fit 4 adults and 1 toddler with the 2 bedrooms, didn't need bunk room but can definitely see how that would be nice for older kids :) Own entrance and view right onto lake. Water in Indian Bay is pristine and calm even on the windy days...so ideal location for jumping off the dock and floating in water, swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking etc. Sandy beach at park is short walk away. Neither are ever too busy or crowded and everyone is usually friendly. House has nice flat small green grass yard for grilling and ADK chairs to sit in while having a coffee or drink taking in view. Small kitchen (but i don't cook and their is a charcoal grill), good dining space and the dvd collection is best I've seen. Overall great cabin and good option for small families/groups. ”
“Thanks, Janelle, for your very nice review. Sounds like this summer was as good as last summer at our cabin for you & your family. Jim Mettler”

“This is a lovely comfortable cabin, resting on a hill overlooking an enchanting cove on Lake George, truly a slice of heaven. It should be noted that although the cabin is listed as "lake front," it is more appropriate to list it as "lake access." You are able to see the lake from the front of the cabin, and as a renter you do have legal access to the dock for swimming/relaxing and taking in the fabulous view, but the owner does not own property on the actual lake front. As he states in his description, unless the owner removes his boat, there is no place to keep any kind of watercraft at the dock, nor can one rest a canoe/kayak on the property anywhere near the dock, as it is not owned by him. We had to accommodate for this by literally bringing our 2-person kayak to and from his cabin, each time we wanted to go kayaking. The other option of course is to simply do your boating at the area beach or marina, which we also did. Other than that minor complaint, this is a wonderful place to spend a week....relaxing, refreshing, and enjoying his fantastic cabin, with all the amenities you need. It is a true "get-away" place and we will hope to rent from him in the future.”
“Thanks, Brian & Jane, for your review of my "slice of heaven;' noting that the cabin's location is indeed "Lake Access," and that the property between the cabin and LG, including the two platforms situated on right-of-way property, IS SO DULY NOTED in my adkbyowner listing. (and has been for years). We are also "Lakefront" insofar as the property between LG & the cabin cannot have any other dwelling. Also, our cabin has deeded rights to & from the dock; the dock on which we also have deeded rights. All such deeded rights belong also to whomever is renting the cabin.”

“My family and I stayed at the Mettler Cabin and had a wonderful experience. It is a cozy, quiet and charming cabin and very clean! Mr. Mettler was very accommodating and kind. The views from the home are spectacular. Our favorite time of day was the evening, sitting in the garden area, listening to the birds and looking at the Lake. The house is located in a great location on Indian Bay, a great place for the kids. I highly recommend staying here if you are looking for a low key and relaxing week. ”

“if you are a "real" Lake George vacationer, and appreciate the beauty of the lake and the Hulletts area, then you will love this house!! It is by no means the Ritz Carlton, but who wants to go there anyway! The house is full of character and charm, just like the lake itself. The screened-in porch provides the perfect place to hang when the weather changes ( if you want to know what the weather in Lake George is, wait 5 minutes!!) the new room under the porch is a PERFECT place to put the kids...away from the adults! ;-)) have to admit, the kitchen is very tight, but who likes to spend alot of time in the kitchen. Hangin' out at night with the chimenea going and seeing the moon glowing on the lake--who could ask for more. Close to all and walking down to the lake in the morning with a hot cup of joe and watching the sun come over the trees....it's got me longin for the lake right now!! and Jim and his wife could not be more helpful in explaining everything and answering all your questions!! we highly reccommend the "Mettler/Lake George " experience!!”
“Dave & Andria & family, What a nice review about the cabin and your time spent there during the summer of 2013. Thank you. Jim 12/12/13”

“We have been coming to Mettlers Shyrewood Cabin for years. The kids can fish or swim off the end of the dock, although when they were younger, life vests were a prerequisite for the ten foot drop to the lakes bottom! The kids are now 14 + 12 + 8, and we all fit comfortably in the cabin with evenings (if not also rainy days) spent watching DirecTV or one of the hundreds of DVD/VHS available while sitting in front of the amazing fireplace.Often, we would pack a lunch and drive the few minutes to the nearby public beach, one bay south of Indian Bay where there is a sandy beach with lifeguards, picnic area with barbecue cookers tables & benches, Mens & Womens toilets & showers, two tennis courts, one basketball court and well water. The next bay south is where the Huletts Marina is located, a source not only for canoe & boat rentals but also for snacks, food staples such as milk, eggs, worms for fishing!, etc As the kids get older, the two of us will go out to the nearby Huletts Casino for a date-for-two with a glass of wine, etcetera, etcetera..In short, Shyrewood Cabin is a perfect place for a family or a Romantic Get-Away.Jeff & Samantha ”

“This was our family's first experience with vacationing via a cabin rental and we will most certainly being planning to do it again in the future. This cabin was very nicely furnished, very clean and well kept. Hulett's Landing is on the quieter side of Lake George and only a short drive (45 minutes) to the "touristy" side. There is a beautiful sandy beach in walking distance of the cabin, which was perfect for our active 4 year old and our sunbathing teen. There were also several shady spots for us old-folk. The cabin's kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils and tools, making it delightful to cook in. We only ate out once the entire week we were there. We didn't even mind washing the dishes by hand. Our children loved the movie collection and it was most helpful on a couple of rainy afternoons. We really enjoyed sitting in the screen porch in the morning and looking out at the beautiful lake. We also took in several sunsets on the dock while we went for an evening swim. The owner of the cabin was very accommodating and called when we arrived to make sure that we were comfortable. There are several beautiful pictures and collages of their family hanging inside the cabin and by the end of the our week, we felt as though we were long-time friends of the family. We are definitely planning to book the cabin next year. I would advise anyone interested to plan ahead and book early. We were blessed to come upon this because of a last minute cancelation.”
“Sherry & Geri & family, And thanks to Geri's upbringing on a Connecticutt farm!, your stay was made even more enjoyable! And thanks to you for being so accomodating & comfortable with whom to visit by phone. Look forward to continuing (Y)Our journeys. Jim”

“We stayed here in July 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed it! It's a nice location on a small bay on the east side of Lake George. Within about 10 minutes, you can walk to a public beach (apparently the only one on the east side of the lake), a marina that rents canoes and kayaks and sells a few groceries, and the family resort of Hulett's Landing, which has a little ice cream shop and a small bar that are open in the evenings. There's a nice hiking trail about a 10 minutes drive away, with many others available if you're willing to drive 30 minutes or so. The two down-sides to the location are, first, that to get to any restaurants, shopping, etc., you have to drive over one (smallish) mountain and then go a ways (maybe 30-45 minutes total). Second, we didn't get cell phone reception at the cabin, although apparently AT&T phones work there. But there is a land-line phone at the cabin, so people can call you there. The cabin is nicely stocked with all of the basics and a ton of movies, and the owner is very nice, really helpful, and loaded with information about the cabin and the area.”
“Thanks, Anne & John, for your nice review. Basic & correct! And with the new AT&T cell phone tower, you can use AT&T as well as "ConsumerCellular" mobile phones out of the cabin & in the area. Hope that the rest of your year is good for you. Jim”
