This cozy cabin offers a lakeside experience nine miles by boat from Long Lake village. It is located in one of the most pristine and beautiful wild areas of the Adirondacks at the north end of Long Lake. A stay here provides an Adirondack experience that normally would require a long hike and a sleeping bag rather than a scenic boat ride and most of the comforts of home.
A 30 minute boat ride from Long Lake village delivers you to the cabin's dock on the eastern shore of Long Lake. The cabi …n is located about 50' from the shore on seven private acres of birch, hemlock, maple and white pine trees. A second, smaller cabin that sleeps two is located just behind the main cabin. The property is surrounded by miles of road-less forest with the Northville Placid Trail running just behind.
Inside the cabin you'll find tidy but rustic furnishings in a large main room along with a wood stove. There are three bedrooms- two feature double beds and one has two bunk beds. The main cabin sleeps eight and two more can sleep in the smaller cabin. Water is pumped from the lake to provide running water for the bathroom (two sinks and a toilet), a small but serviceable kitchen and an outdoor shower. Appliances including a refrigerator, stove, hot water heater and lights are powered by propane. There is no electricity.
The front of the cabin features an outside deck and a screened porch as well as an outdoor stone fireplace. Both of these, as well as the kitchen and the main sitting room, offer breathtaking western views of Long Lake. Guests at the cabin spend time sitting on the porch watching the lake, reading, playing board games or experiencing the lake and woods. The Northville Placid Trail, just a short distance behind the house, leads to Cold River (four miles) and then to the base of the trail-less Seward Mountains. The 14 mile long lake offers extensive motoring and paddling and features healthy populations of smallmouth bass, pike, perch and sunfish. Wildlife that has been spotted by guests includes bald eagles, loons, beaver, deer, the occasional bear and the very occasional moose.
Boat access to the cabin will be provided (for an additional fee) or guests may bring their own boat. We'll meet you in Long Lake village and drive you down the lake, then pick you up one week later. While at the camp, you'll have access to a 15' motorboat with a 15 HP engine as well as a canoe and two kayaks. This 15' launch can whisk you around the lake and even take you back to town on occasion if you desire.

“Had an absolutely amazing stay here with my 3 boys, brother, and father. The cabin is exceeded all of our expectations and the hospitality could not have been better. Coordination with the host was friendly and the tips for activities during our stay were spot on. Felt like we landed at this tranquil piece of earth with a thoughtful roadmap to a week of enjoyment and much needed relaxation. The amenities were perfect and the views and breeze through the cabin made for memorable nights with our group. We even had a fire one night.Fishing!!! Sunnies can be caught all day on a bobber and hook with a worm - they were everywhere. The real thrill was a 25 Northern pike that my son caught using gear from the cabin. Sunset was 9 and at around 930pm my son could be heard from the deck yelling pike!!! I caught a pike!!!If that isnt enough, the far end of the property is along a beautiful hiking trail. We hiked 3-5 miles each day along beautiful trails. This place is a must for a family looking for a special/remote/tranquil vacation.”

“The men & boys in my family, all six of us, just returned from an absolutely wonderful week of rest, relaxation, fellowship at Walker's On the Rocks. Our ages spanned from 75 to 12. The complete privacy and seclusion allowed us an mosaic of endless joys with no distractions. A week in a world of no electronic interruptions was a fantastic. The cabin had all that we needed and more, everything was clean, in order and ready to go. I cannot think of a better way to spend time with family. It was simply perfect. We will return next year and, most probably, every year thereafter. Jim”

“"Lakeside seclusion" says it all. This part of Long Lake--nearly at its northern end--is incredibly quiet and private. You can go for days without seeing or hearing other people. We spent our time sitting on the dock, swimming, reading, and watching the local wildlife (mergansers, eagles, kingfishers, loons). The broad view of the lake and enormous amount of sky provides endless interest, from the mist burning off in the morning, to the dramatic sunsets, to the spectacular stargazing. The cabin is rustic, which is exactly as it should be; the front bedroom is wonderfully boat-like and cozy. There are a screened-in porch and an open porch, each with a gorgeous view of the lake. The Northville-Lake Placid Trail offers beautiful hiking opportunities right out back, if you can tear yourself away from the lake to take advantage of it! Being away from wifi, cell service, and electricity (gas-powered fridge and stove are great) makes it a truly relaxing, unplugged experience. This is what vacation is all about. ”

“We had a peaceful and lovely time at this secluded and very private oasis. Great swimming off of the dock, rugged hiking, and lots of successful fishing. Wonderful kayaking every morning and glorious sunsets each night. Having a canoe, two kayaks, and a small fishing boat all included was such a bonus. We loved exploring the north end of the lake and sitting on the screened-in porch playing games or reading. Many loons, large families of ducks, and other assorted wildlife. The Tobins Rochester, NY”

“This place is highly recommended for its value, gorgeous setting and accessibility to outdoor activities. As the cabin is located at toward the end of the Long Lake, this is an incredibly peaceful place to stay. There were many times during the week that the expansive view from the dock and porch was free from any human activity. The lake and Raquette River offer great paddling opportunites and as the Northville-Lake Placid Trail, runs behind the cabin, hiking and trail running are other enticing pastimes. While I do not fish, members of my party who do, were often disappearing at dawn or dusk with one of the boats...and returning with tales of bass and pike, and the one that got away. Among the highlights of the cabin itself, are the screened-in porch, where you can enjoy the sunset while eating dinner; the tasteful and rustic interior; well equipped kitchen; and 4 separate bedrooms with comfortable beds, including a master bedroom in which you feel like you are sleeping right above the shoreline and another in a seperate "hut". With the porch, seperate bedrooms, kitchen with attached bar and stools, and living area, it is easy for people to find some peace within the cabin as well, even with a large group. Packing books, favorite games and for other indoor activities is recommended for rainy weather. Another "asset", if you are trying to get "away from it all", is that without electricity, tech options can be somewhat limited. Cell coverage depends on your carrier, and can be a bit unpredictable. There is a land line for back up. To enhance your enjoyment at the cabin, and to avoid unplanned trips back up the lake, make sure you plan ahead and pack the food and necessities you will need for the number of days you plan on staying "away from civilization". ”
