“Beautifully located and well maintained slice of heaven in the Adirondacks. Very responsive owner regarding any needs. Our family has been renting this location going on six years. We look forward to the rest and much needed family time the cabin lends our group. “We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Noon over Moose. The owner Paul was exceptionally responsive to all our email questions and provided us good tips for hikes. The house was better than advertised. Plenty of space for our family to spread out. All the bedrooms we good size with dressers and closet space for clothes. The walk to to town was a flat 1 mile trek over the foot bridge down the road. We definitely recommend this home.”

“The property exceeded our expectations. We found the home to be immaculate.The cabin is nicely furnished and well appointed. There are plenty of dishes and cooking utensils and everything is in great shape. The house is in a beautiful spot and the outdoor area is convenient and well kept, a very enjoyable spot for outdoor dining and/or enjoying a campfire. In short, we had a glamorous stay in a beautiful wooded resort area. We will definitely be booking another stay at Moon Over Moose.”

“Moon Over Moose was truly beautiful, spacious ,and immaculate. The pictures and website were great, but really the property was much nicer in person.When we walked into the cabin, it was just beautiful and had a great feel to it .Everything was very well put together and organized.We had no issues with anything .All communication was clear and EASY to understand.Very tasteful decor.The location was perfect! While quiet where we were, it was only a 10 minute walk to Main Street in Old Forge to grab a bite to eat or do some shopping.Deer came right up to us while we were eating outdoors one evening.We really had the best of both worlds.Many great family memories from our stay here. Paul our host has been terrific with communication and follow up.There is no doubt that a great deal of care has gone into making Moon Over Moose a very special place and we hope to return again! “My family and I decided to take a long week trip to Old Forge and came across the Moon Over Moose cabin rental by luck! The initial contact with Owner, Paul, was very quick. When we arrived at the cabin, I was so reassured that the home looked exactly as it does in the listing photos and very excited that we would get to stay the weekend in such a gorgeous, river front cabin. The amenities were wonderful, all necessary kitchen appliances were there and in working order. The space was clean and cozy. The rooms are all good size- we had a group of 3 couples and 4 children with room to spare. The weather was a bit rainy but the outside covered area was very useful when it rained, other then that the backyard was perfect for sitting out in the sun and doing some fishing. Overall our stay at Moon Over Moose was WONDERFUL. The only note that I would make to future renters is that the stair case is a bit wide for a traditional baby gate so we made a gate using chairs that were available.”

The location works well for my group, too. Close to restaurants and shops. You really feel as though you are on an Adirondack retreat when you stay here!”

“This place is a gem-we are so lucky that the Choma's are willing to share it with us! It is beautiful, spacious, and immaculate. The location on the Moose River and just around the corner from the Tobie Trail (for biking/running) make it perfect for families and wilderness explorers. It is close enough to town that you can get there easily (5 min drive, 10-20 min walk), but quiet and secluded enough to have numerous deer and the occasional bear visit your backyard! We stayed here with another family-and there was plenty of space for gathering, but also a number of quiet nooks for alone time. The cabin is decorated beautifully-as you can see from the photos. My only caution (as a pediatrician) would be to parents of young children-the staircases are gorgeous but somewhat open. You would need to keep close watch, hold hands, and use the rail-or speak to Paul about how to safely barricade the landings. Paul was extremely attentive to our questions-answering email almost instantly. We already booked for next year, and hope to make coming here a new tradition!”

“The Choma Home was the perfect spot for our annual family trip. The kids loved the lower level for their get away area from the adults. The home was well equipped with everything we needed to celebrate Thanksgiving while we were there. The only thing carried in other than our personal belongings and paper products was the turkey and the roasting pan. Everything else we needed we were able to grab at the local A&P market around the corner. Tony Harpers pizza was tasty the night we arrived. The views, the hike up Bald Mtn, the snow, the wildlife, the gas fireplace, even the power outage due to heavy snow were all just what we needed! Thank you for building such a great place in an awesome location and letting us share in its wonders.”

“So this was our second year at Moon over Moose. We have been staying in the area about 7 years and never once stayed in the same place twice so that should tell you something about this rental. It has everything. Outside there is easy access to the Moose river. You can kayak canoe or take a small boat up and down the river. It's calm and slow flowing so you don't worry about kids losing control on a kayak. The property has a nice outdoor sitting and cooking area as well as a fire pit for camp fires. Love grilling? You can choose from gas or charcoal, Weber's no less.
Inside, you walk in to that true ADK feel, yet you have every creature comfort you could wish for. The appliances are all new and top notch. The kitchen lay out is great as there is plenty of room for preparing meals and it spills out into a nice area for the family to gather around the table. The living room is spacious and comfy. Cable and full house surround will keep you entertained at night or on those lazy days.
Upstairs are three large bedrooms. The first has two twins and a ton of open floor space for kids to play. The second has a full bed and a single window bed. The master is large with plenty of closet space and a really nice full bathroom with jet tub. There is a nice little seat at the top of the stairs for reading as well. The lower level.... Another full bathroom, bedroom with two twin beds and a comfy seating area. A pool table and foose ball table make this a hot spot for kids and adults alike.
The area. Another great thing about this rental is the location. Your on a quiet street, where kids can ride bikes, and your on the water, yet walking distance to stores and restaurants. Old Forge has plenty of eateries and shops. Water Safari is right in town and is great on a super hot day. The town beach is also nice to hang out at for the day. This house would also make a great fall or winter spot to relax and get away. The house is equipped to be used year round.There are plenty of trails and mountains to hike as well as being in one of the most snowmobile friendly parts of the state. I don't have a single complaint about this place. My family and I love it and feel very lucky to be able to rent it. The owners are very accommodating and helpful.

“From the moment you walk through the front door a feeling of happiness comes over you. You instantly know you have made the right decision to stay here. We have visited the Adk's many times and have even stayed very close to this vacation home. Now that we have found this home we have no reason to stay anywhere else. The home sits on a quite road that close enough to town that its only a short walk or quick bike ride to shops, store or restaurants. The house was very clean on arrival and everything functioned perfectly. Our first days we had very warm weather and enjoyed moose river and the fire pit. We woke up to snow the next day and enjoyed the fire place, foosball and the pool table. It was a wonderful cabin to stay at to enjoy our family vacation. ”

“This is a beautiful luxurious and spacious home perfect for families or several couples to share. The property is beautiful with a small dock and canoe situated on an area of the river which appears to be remote; however it is very close to town. It is an easy walk or bike ride into restaurants and shops. The owner and the caretaker were responsive and friendly. If you have noisy teenagers, just send them outside to the beautiful fire pit area since sound carries in this large home. Kitchen well equipped, baths are spacious, TV and fireplace in living room are appreciated. Everyone loved the activities room on the lower level.”

“This was our third year staying at Moon Over Moose, and we have already requested reservations for 2016. There are eight of us that have been traveling to the Adirondacks to play several rounds of golf at Thendara and Inlet for over the course of 17 years. We have stayed in various rentals over that time span, but when we found Moon Over Moose, we immediately determined that it was the place for us. The host and his team have treated us as if we were family. The home has EVERYTHING you can ask for. Plenty of room in which to relax, a covered outdoor space for grilling and having a few adult beverages, and the fire pit under the stars is perfect. Taking a leisurely canoe ride in the early evening really reinforces how beautiful the Adirondacks are. Besides the house and the host being great, you are right around the corner from all the activities you can find in Old Forge.
This home is a great place for family gatherings, golf addicts like us, and anyone who wants to treat themselves to a fantastic stay in the Adirondacks. I cannot say enough about how much we appreciate all it has to offer. I think you will also.”

“Another amazing stay at Moon Over Moose. Is was everything we expected and desired for an ADK get away! The cabin had some updates since our last visit. It was comfortable, spacious and all around gorgeous! We had daily visits from local wildlife (a buck, fawn, doe and ducks) always a hit with the kids! Town was so close we visited daily and enjoyed the events and shopping. We look forward to returning in 2016.”

“This was our 3rd year staying in this beautiful Adirondack log home. Home is kept in pristine condition and our family thoroughly enjoys our stay here. Perhaps the only drawback are the weeds at the river edge dock but I know that state laws mandate that they be left in there natural state. With that said both rowboat and canoe offered by the owner can access the river with a little effort. Both owner and caretaker are readily available for any issues. Highly recommend this property.”

“ The pictures that are shown on this listing are great, but wait until you see it first hand. We stepped in the door and were blown away by how beautiful this place is. My family has been taking vacations in the area for many years and have stayed in many nice places, but this place tops them all. The attention to detail in the layout and function of this place is fantastic. The house has modern amenities but still has the rustic ADK feel. Four bathrooms, how's that for roughing it? Full house indoor and outdoor sound system, how many "cabins" do you know of that have that?
If you are into kayaking this is a great spot. The Moose river is calm and a great spot for paddling around. My kids took the provided canoe out several times and I didn't have to worry about choppy conditions or heavy power boat traffic like you would on the lakes. Over all this place is just plain awesome. It's clean, everything works, close to town yet you would think your miles away from everything. If you have never stayed in the area, choose this place and you will get the best that Old Forge has to offer. If you are a regular to the area, do yourself a favor and check out this gem. The owners are a pleasure to deal with and we felt privileged to have been able stay in such a perfect place. ”

“We had a wonderful and relaxing time at this house! There was plenty to occupy the kids with, as well as the adults. Very close to town for shopping and there was a really nice beach with a swimming area. We spent a day at the Water Safari water park which was less than a 5 min drive away. There were also several cool hiking trails not too far from the house. The house was absolutely beautiful and fit our family of 7 with plenty of room to spare. Lots of cool and unique features in this log house. We got lots of use out of the pool table and fooseball tables. We also had a deer come across the lawn every morning and then it would move along to the neighbors yard. You had some privacy and the feeling of nature all around you, but the security of knowing you weren't out in the middle of nowhere! Lots of bonfires and s'mores that week. Fantastic week, gorgeous house, will definitely rent again! ”

“What a wonderful place to stay for our vacation! The house is beautiful and so is the yard, lots of evergreens and a lovely view of the river. The house is furnished very nicely, right down to all the artwork in every room. We had a lot of fun with the pool table too! It was an easy walk to town, and for the cyclists in the family, they could ride right from the house up and all over McCauley Mt. My husband enjoyed fishing on beautiful Moose River, and there are many hiking trails close by. The owners obviously care about their home and their renters' comfort and enjoyment, with all the amenities and little extras,which were included. Our family definitely would love to come back next year!!”

“My family choose this home to get together to celebrate my fathers 80 th birthday. My family is in different areas of NY State and we were not dissappointed. The only down fall was the weather. It was rainy and in tthe 40's. We still got to have a fire outside for a little while one night between rain drops. The house is awesome and we are all trying to get our calendars together to do this again. Next time for a couple more days. This house is very well taken care of. A few of us even took turns in the jaquzzi. We had pool matches, my mom made a couple dvd's of old family puctures and videos and we all sat in the living room in front of the fireplace and had some qualty family time. I can not thank Paul and Jill enough for opening up this home. It was a very special weekend for my family and as I said we can't wait to do it again. We normally camp in tents, but this was great also. I almost forgot that as we were leaving we got a visit from a deer. It came through the side porch area and around to the front door area. I guess he was checking this out, but it was nice of him to say good buy.”

“Moon-Over-Moose is a gem! The detailed planning, design and architectural expertise are evident both inside and outside. The house is spectacular from all angles. The kitchen is roomy and well supplied with all the dishes, pots and utensils needed to prepare and serve fantastic meals. The great room is very comfortable with lots of room to read, play games or watch TV. We liked the layout of bedrooms and baths. Everyone slept well. The lower level of the house is a real bonus and offers a lot of space to spread out and have fun. The pool table was a special treat as we rarely get an opportunity to play pool! We played golf at Thendara Golf Club, rode the McCauley chairlift, took a boat tour, a train ride and enjoyed the fire pit while reminiscing about all of our vacations to this beautiful part of NYS. Moon-Over-Moose helped to make this trip one of the best. We will definitely be back. Thank you for enabling others to enjoy your beautiful, clean and well maintained home.

“Just getting back from our second week long stay @ Moon Over Moose. The only word I can use to describe this home is spectacular. We looked seriously for about 2 years to find a special home to spend family time with in the Old Forge area. The minute we pulled in the drive of Moon Over Moose we knew this was the place. While we viewed it in the dead of winter with snow mobiles parked under the porch we knew this would be the perfect summer setting and have not been disappointed. The home is very roomy and has all the modern comforts. It is exactly as advertised and kept in perfect condition. Please take a look at the pictures made available in this ad and I believe they don't really do this property justice. Owner is great to do business with. Entire dealing is friendly and professional. We would highly recommend this property.”

“This is my extended family's sixth year staying at Moon Over Moose. From the first time we saw this beautiful log home we knew this was a great place for our family reunion.
The five bedrooms and four bathrooms met our needs very well. The rooms are spacious and well appointed with appealing and comfortable furniture, etc. The kitchen and dinning area are modern and spacious and equipped well for cooking. There are two living areas that are very comfortable and have cable TV.
There's a nice covered area for eating or sitting outdoors with two new grills for cooking outdoors. The owner has provided a canoe and rowboat for the renters use. The log home sits along side the Moose River and has a view of the river. While we have used the canoe on several occasions, access to the river is a bit challenging due to the vegetation growing in the water along the banks.
We feel that the rental price is fair and well worth it for what you get. Moon Over Moose is just five minutes from the center of Old Forge and a short ride to many other places you might want to visit. My family has a long history of visiting and staying in the Adirondacks, and being at Moon Over Moose has made our stays very enjoyable. We hope to continue our association with Moon Over Moose for many years to come.

“ As we packed up 4 adults and 2 small children we were looking forward to a nice comfortable home to spend the week with family. As we turned into the driveway to Moon over Moose we were blown away by the beauty of the area and the quality of the home.
The view from the home was and continued to be beautiful , even on our 1 rainy day. The house was comfortable and we felt we were home our whole week. We enjoyed ourselves more than we thought and we recommend this home to anyone.

Our family had a wonderful time at your log home. The home is in great shape and all the appliances and lighting worked well. We enjoyed kayaking on the Moose River and utilized your dock that gave us easier access. We had a pool tournament the first night a campfire the second and watched cable TV the third night. The beds were comfortable and the showers hot. The place is just beautiful with the big log framing inside and out. I also much appreciated your friendly and prompt service on our communications over phone and email. You made it easy and professional. “This a beautiful rental property. I have rented in the fall and spring. The fall floliage is beautiful! It is spacious and gives you a real Adirondack feel!! Every convenience is well thought of. It is a beautiful place to launch your kayak from the back door!! All kinds of wildlife out the back door, yet in a quiet neighborhood great for walking. I will definitely come back.”

“We loved this place! The layout of the home is perfect for a family or, as in our case, a group of golfers. The kitchen is well appointed, we cooked on the outdoor grill and enjoyed sitting around the fire pit in the evening. When we were not ruminating about our golf scores at Thendara and Inlet, we were mastering the foosball and pool tables in the lower level. It is convenient to everything in Old Forge. Our hosts were attentive and easy to communicate with. When we return to the area, we will be making reservations at Moon Over Moose. You should too!”

“Planning our return & wanted to add our belated review.
As soon as we walked in, we knew we'd made a great choice for our Autumn get-away. Beautiful home- spacious, multiple floors & areas for gathering or enjoying a little quiet time. Well appointed kitchen- perfect for hanging out and preparing meals.
Bald Mountain hike- loved it. On a rainy day we went into town nearby - took in a movie at the funky, interesting old movie-theatre (Ben & Jerry Ice cream and great pop-corn, BTW) then shopped in the hardware store/everything store that went on forever!
The Moose River was right in our backyard, & the deer were so friendly they ate out of our hands. We felt like little kids-
And the owners made everything very easy- See you in the fall for smores by the campfire!”

“My family and I experienced a truly relaxing week long vacation while staying in this beautiful Moon over Moose log home. The owners were very easy to deal with and provided us with ample accommodations in this wonderful house. The beds were comfortable, the weather was perfect and most amazing of all there were absolutely no mosquitoes. Another bonus was enjoying time around the campfire almost every night right behind the outdoor dining area. Don't miss taking a hike up to the top of local Bald Mountain ... also well worth it !”

“Perfect place to stay if you love the great outdoors and want to have all of the luxuries of home. The home is spacious, beautifully decorated and equipped with all of the supplies you need. After a hike up Bald Mountain, we came back to bbq and sing around the fire pit. The home has a beautiful view of the Moose river where we went canoeing. We exhausted ourselves with boating, water skiing, playing at the waterpark and white water rafting. This house is definitely worth the rental price and the owner's pride in their home shows!”

“Moon Over Moose was an amazing vacation rental! The owners made you feel welcome from the initial phone conversation and any e-mails following. We even received a "safe travel" email prior to the vacation. The log home is gorgeous. It was easy to feel right at home from the minute you walk in. Local attractions were within minutes. If you didn't want to leave the site there was plenty to do right on the property (board games, fire pit, canoe/rowboat, fishing, etc). We plan on rebooking!”
