FACTS ABOUT CAMP 1910
During the period of Prohibition, bootleggers, rum runners, and distilleries ran alcohol from Canada through rural areas such as the Adirondacks. They were ideal areas for smuggling because they contained a network of backroads and enforcement was difficult. In poor regions such as the Adirondacks, even typically law-abiding residents saw Prohibition as an opportunity to make money. Sometime in the 70's and early 80's, the previous owners of Camp 1910 discovered several cars buried throughout the property. As we understand, all the cars were dug up and removed. It was common for bootleggers to bury their cars on the property so law enforcement such as the FBI could not find them. When the cribbing under the dock and gazebo (at the time was a chicken coop) needed repairing another car was discovered buried in dirt and concrete with the license plate still in-tact (no bones or body--Thank God!) In the Spring of 2017, while trying to remove a large rock next to the kayak stand we discovered what appeared to be part of a car.

About Us: Our family has been coming to Old Forge for over 3 decades, and the 1-week annual trips were never quite long enough. Every year our biggest challenge as renters was finding a lake house that would accommodate our big family comfortably. After years of renting we stumbled upon Camp 1910 at Windsong Acres. She was perfect. We hope you enjoy Camp 1910 as much as we do. ~Kris and Don
Why we think you will enjoy staying in Fourth Lake: Have you ever seen the movie Field of Dreams starring Kevin Costner? Shoeless Joe Jackson (Ray Liotta): Hey, is this heaven? Ray Kinsella (Kevin Costner) No, it's Iowa. We think Old Forge must be heaven.
Why our property is special: The homes originated as a Sears Modern Home, and was brought to Old Forge by train and barge in 1910 ( so we were told). The property has seen it's way through Prohibition, The Great Depression, and has seen the transformation of Old Forge and the Central Adirondack Region become one of the most popular destinations in the Northeast.

“We've now stayed here for 3 summers in a row with my brothers and their families. Each year doesn't disappoint and this year with the addition of room AC units for all the bedrooms in both houses was a nice upgrade. Even being on the lake in the summer the rooms can get stuffy so it made for an enjoyable nights sleep each night. Providing all the bedding and towels was a huge space saver when packing for the week and much appreciated. You really can't go wrong with staying at Camp 1910 for a week. ”
Owner's Response
“Thank you, Jim! It’s always a pleasure hosting your family!”

“My family along with two others stayed here a couple weeks ago and we were all very happy with our stay. The camps are really nice. There was plenty of room on the couches and chairs for all of us to sit in while watching TV(Roku) or playing video games in the family room. The kitchen was great and had everything we needed to cook meals for 10 each night. I stayed in the main house and the king sized beds were very comfortable and two of the bedrooms have beautiful views of Fourth Lake. The kids slept comfortably up on the third floor twins which includes an AC! The camp was very clean and is in great shape. We all loved using the provided kayaks, paddle boards and paddle boats. There is a nice sized yard and the neighbors are friendly. Its a great location on Fourth lake, near Inlet and Old Forge and the bike trail access across the street was an added perk that we were able to take advantage of. The owner communicated with me promptly whenever I had a question and also emailed me during my stay to make sure everything was going well. In summary Camp 1910 exceeded my expectations and we all agree that we will be coming back next year. ”

“This place is awesome for families! The water toys really set this property apart from others weve rented in the past. Kids and adults alike took advantage of the Standup Paddle Boards and kayaks (its really nice having 5 kayaks so no fighting). Being right off Rt 28 allows you access to Old Forge, Eagle Bay and Inlet within minutes to meet all your needs while staying there. We loved having access to the Tobie Bike trail, once we figured out how to access it (thank you to the friendly neighbor). We rode the trails each morning including a stop at the Donut Shop! The dock easily fit our pontoon boat we rented. The large yard allowed for various lawn games like Cornhole which was provided as well as Can Jam which we brought. The Main house was roomy enough to handle all our families for meals on the days it rained. Both houses were well stocked to meet most of our needs. The owners took care of a leaky faucet we noticed while there the same day. I would highly recommend this property and we plan on staying here again next year.”

“This is our second time our family has rented these properties. Once again, we loved everything about these two homes. Both are beautifully decorated and the homes are perfectly located between Old Forge and Inlet. Everything you need is there, inside and out. The owners Kris and Don went above and beyond for us and answered any questions we had for them. We will definitely be returning again and again and making special memories with our families. ”

“Four families stayed Windsong, 13 people - adults and children. There was plenty of room for us to spread out. We were very pleased with the accommodations. The beds were very comfortable and all rooms nicely decorated. The owner makes sure everything you need is available like fire wood, extra propane, kayaks, fully equipped kitchen, and much more. We met the owners prior to our stay to view Windsong. The pictures truly show how nice the property is. We are on the calendar for July 2021 vacation again at Windsong. ”

“Absoloutely beautiful house located in a perfect area. Super relaxing and an overall great getaway. You can see the highly detailed level of craftmanship and care that went into this property. My family and I would definitely recommend to family and friends and plan to go there again in the future.”

“WOW! This property, literally, every single thing about it is perfection! We are 2 days into our week vacation and Im positive I never want to leave. Every detail, every amenity, is here as if I designed it myself. Its beautiful, inside and out. Everything is designed and executed with comfort, relaxation and thoughtfulness. It is so obvious that the owners were at one time renters because they clearly understand what people want and need in a vacation rental. As a family who has rented (different) Oceanside homes in OBX over a dozen times, we know the trials and tribulations of finding the perfect place. Ive stayed in homes in Cape Code and ADK...paid the same or more...and every single day of each of those trips something went wrong. It sounds silly but even the sliding glass doors and screens are top notch. Lol. The guest cottage is amazing. Quiet, cozy, welcoming. The love of the ADK shines through in every single piece of this property. I can not say enough about this beautiful place. The owners have gone well above and beyond to create an atmosphere for renters that is unlike any Ive experienced. Thank you so much for sharing all of this with us! You have truly created something special!!!! ”

“We had a PERFECT vacation. The property exceeded our expectations. We had 3 families come together for the week and there was plenty of room for all. The property was clean, welcoming and very charming. We had a little hiccup at the start of the week with water pressure. The owners couldn't have been more on top of the situation. It was resolved very quickly. We had a perfect weather week for property on the lake. The kayaks and paddle boats were a big bonus. The attention to detail was noticed ... plenty of firewood for the fire pits, extra propane for the grills to name a few. All of the furnishing were nice AND comfortable. We called the 3rd floor the Eagles Nest ... it was an extra bonus to have air conditioning on that floor because the week we came was sweltering. The kitchen was beautiful ... everything working, nice quality pots, pans and sharp knives. It was a pleasure to prepare a meal for our crew. We took the leap this year to rent a camp on the lake. It did not disappoint. Everyone was very happy and we hope to make this our vacation destination again for sure!”

“Where do I begin? As soon as you walk into Camp 1910 you feel like welcomed as if you were invited there by an old friend! The homes, both of which are beautiful feel comfortable and clean, are decorated with simple accents that make you want to redecorate your home. The further you go into the homes, the better is gets. The kitchens are clean and have space open for unpacking, the beds are comfortable and the rooms are accented with just the right amount of "stuff". The yard and outdoor space simply compliments the beauty of Fourth Lake. It's instantly easy to relax and unwind. Both kids and adults love the sandy bottom of the lake and have a blast using the paddle boats and the kayaks. The location on the property made it easy to hop on Tobie Trail in the morning for a nice walk, usually to Eagle Bay and the Donut Shop! The owners do a great job making you feel welcome and making sure you enjoy your stay. This review most likely does not do Camp 1910 justice. The property is beautiful and clean and gives renters an instant sense of comfort. The yard is large and flat, so kids have space to play when they are not enjoying the water. The water has a sandy bottom and a gradual ease to deeper water. We have rented in the Adirondacks for many years, and this property, by far, is the best we have stayed at. I can't say enough about the great experience we had at Camp 1910, but would certainly recommend it to anyone looking to relax in the beautiful ADK!!”

“We have a large family group with ages ranging from 9 months to 77 years old. When we found Camp 1910 at Windsong Acres, we rented with a little apprehension about being able to handle the 'needs' of such a large age span. We quickly learned our apprehensions were for naught. The main cottage and guest cottage comfortably handled the size of our group. The best surprises were the enclosed porch, the open deck, the screened gazebo, the dock and sandy swimming area. Everyone was able to do as they wished. What initially caught everyone's eye were the interior furnishings and supplies at each cottage. We enjoyed the privacy and overall rustic environment. One drawback was having to supply linens, but this seems to be an ADK expectation. The owners were very open about the details of Camp 1910 and very accommodating regarding any initial questions or concerns. They called mid-week to insure all was OK! We would definitely rent Camp 1910, again. ”

“From the minute we got there, our family fell in love with this place. Absolutely gorgeous camp inside with all the amenities. We had a cold rainy weekend outside but we were nice & cozy inside with the beautiful wood fireplace going. We wish we could have spent time down on the screened in deck porch with spectacular views right on the water. The 4 kids thought the 3rd floor was the coolest place to be. This was our mothers 83rd birthday celebration and we couldn't think of a better place to spend it. We didn't want to leave and we can't wait to come back. Thank you so much Camp 1910!!!”

“What a gorgeous property! I have heard horror stories of cob-web filled, dirty vacation homes in the mountains...this was NOT one of them!!! We rented both the main house and guest cottage for a vacation with our extended families (ranging in age from 6-80!). Both homes have recently been renovated and were extremely clean and inviting upon arrival; they are also both very thoughtfully and quaintly furnished. The huge king sized beds in the main house prevented me from catching any sunrises during our week's stay...they were too darned comfy, causing me to sleep in every day! We enjoyed kayaking, paddle boating, and paddleboarding (rented one) right in front of the property. There is a nice sloped walk-in area (also you can slide the kayaks easily in) that was great for little kids and adults alike. We also rented a pontoon boat from Old Forge, and were able to dock it right onsite. Bike and hiking trails were all within minutes away. The homes came with some nice household amenities such as washer/dryers, dishwashers, tvs, as well as games and puzzles that kept us busy. The water was filtered and thus drinkable, which saved us from having to buy a ton of bottled water (and I'm finicky with taste!). We made a campfire nearly every evening and the sitting area in the gazebo provided relief from the sun during the day, and has cool lights for use at night! The 2 grills were perfect for our outdoor cooking needs, and the kitchens were well-stocked with all the dishes, cooking utensils, etc that our large crowd required. The owners went out of their way to make sure we were set up to have a great time during our stay at Camp 1910 at Windsong Acres. I couldn't have asked for or expected anything more. We have so many wonderful memories, I'm hoping to come back again!”

“ My family and I stayed for three nights and did not want to leave! the cottage was beautiful and cozy. Attention was paid to every detail! Not to mention the panoramic view right out the patio door. The owners make you feel welcome and comfortable with their personal touches to the property. I can not say how much I enjoyed my stay, such a perfect location to unplug and spend time together!”
