Kayakers dream!! Our Wilderness Lodge is a chateau right on the water of the outlet leading to Canada Lake. The road itself is literally inside the Adirondack State Park. It's miles long and perfect for bike riding and hiking (trails right off road). There is also a public swimming area. The house itself is decorated in the ADK style. The wall decorations, even the bathroom is full of bear and moose decorations. The cabin has been recently updated with forced heat and stays toasty warm. The hous …e is split into two sections. The main section has the bathroom, kitchen, dinette area, living room with fireplace and TV, and the master loft that looks out onto the water. The master loft has a half bathroom. A private door leads to the guest area, which has its own living room (TV and fireplace) and bedroom loft. Both sections have a sliding door that leads out to a large deck that overlooks the water. (Please be gentle with the screen door! It is a little tricky so please slide it gently). You can Kayak right off the dock, or take a float out to the middle of the lake for great swimming. The area itself is extremely private and is truly an escape into the wild. There is a third bedroom in a separate small outside cabin right on the water that has the best view of the lake. There is also a futon in the main living room. WiFi/satellite is included. We have two kayaks that can be used as well as lifejackets. Our cabin is meant for families/friends only; it's not a party rental. Please be aware that the water surrounding the dock is shallow and has muck and rock. If you want to swim you have to walk through the muck or take the kayak/raft to the middle of the lake and jump out OR go to the swimming area by the dam down the road. Also note that during the summer months the immediate area around the dock will have lake weeds.

“My wife and I spend last four days at the end of June staying in this beautiful Loon House. Exceptional and very peaceful location. Very well equipped house: cable TV, WiFi, kitchen with everything you need. I enjoyed kayaking. Beautiful, beautiful and beautiful!!! We booked last two weeks of August. ”

“The Loon House on a Canada Lake outlet is a serene, idyllic getaway. My husband and I stayed 15 nights with an almost-3 year old toddlerwe all enjoy the water and the woods so it was true nature therapy for us. We hiked, kayaked, took out the huge inflatable raft/float, rented a power boat on Canada Lake, swam in the cool clear water, ate grilled meals at the picnic table on the deck then relaxed in the rocking chairs, took peaceful naps in the little cottage, went fishing, caught salamanders and frogs and toads, and watched from the gently swaying dock as dragonflies and butterflies and bees visited the pretty purple flowers atop the lake grasses. Although the cabin is blissfully remote, there are restaurants and ice cream stands as well as grocery and gas stores within 30 minutes or less. The cabin itself is well-appointed and comfortable, even when family in the area visited us, with all the conveniences of home (except cell service, but the WiFi worked great). The owner was friendly, accommodating, accessible, responsive, and communicative, but not intrusive. The weather was somewhat wet for some of our stay, but the house remained cozy. On the warmer, more humid days, the ceiling and floor fans kept it cool. We would very happily stay here again and plan to do so in the future if our schedules permit. ”

“My honey and I just got home from an amazing 4 day stay here at the Loon House. If you are looking for peace and quiet and tranquility this is your place. The only noise we ever heard were the bullfrogs and loons at night. The house is beautiful and well taken care of. It has all the basics you need in the kitchen. The view from the bedroom in the loft to wake up to is like out of a magazine! So beautiful!!! We kayaked and floated in the tubs down the channel for a long ways! Water was perfect and we saw some beavers! Breakfast on the deck every morning was wonderful! Beautiful fire pit right next to the water! I could go on and on, but Ill sum it up with, we had nothing but an amazing long weekend here! We very much appreciate the owners for the opportunity to rent a place like this, otherwise not everyone could enjoy a special treat like this one! Thanks again!!! Hope to stay again too!!!!!”

“We had a great time on the lake. The house is very comfortable and the host was friendly, clear in his instructions and very responsive to my many questions. The set-up of the house was unusual and well suited our family. There are two halves of the house each with a bedroom and a living room. We split up with the 2 adults on one side and the 2 teens in the other. Actually our older son stayed in a cozy cabin also on the property. The paddling is wonderful. There are 2 kayaks available (as well as 2 bikes). The house sits on a long outlet from the lakes, So you can paddle pretty far if you're up to it. As noted in the description, you have to get past the weeds to swim. We used a big raft and had a great time playing in the channel. There are also woods just on the other side of the road--we walked down the road and found 2 trails through the forest. If you like paddling, biking, swimming and hiking and sitting on a deck (or dock) listening to the silence, you'll really like being there.”

“Jack and Christi's Wilderness Lodge is a great place to relax and enjoy your surroundings. My husband, our five year old twins, our friends (another couple) and myself spent a long weekend over the 4th of July and couldn't have been happier! We had a great time exploring, kayaking, roasting marshmallows around the fire pit, having a dance party on the dock and just enjoying the view that we couldn't get enough of. Jack and Christi have added so many amazing details to their home to make it cozy and welcoming that there are too many to count! I wish we could have stayed longer and explored more, but there's always next time! The house itself is comfortable, spacious and open while being clean and organized with an incredibly intricate Adirondack feel. We have been renting Lake Houses for years, so we thought we could expect more of the usual but we were wrong! Jack and Christi's place is different in the best way possible and we would recommend it to anyone!”

“We had a wonderful time staying at this charming waterfront home. It has an open and airy feel and a wonderful view. The furnishings are very nice and it is decorated very well in the rustic adirondack style. The kitchen is compact but has a wonderful gas stove, nice woodland dishes, and is open to the living and dining areas. The main bathroom is also narrow but updated and very nice. We loved the deck which was spacious and provided opportunities for both shade and Sun. A nice big grill and a picnic table were put to good use as were the big wooden rockers. There's a nice yard area by the shore and a great dock from which to enjoy the beautiful view-just water, rocks, and trees, as the other side is totally wilderness. S o serene and beautiful. We all enjoyed the magic of night time falling over the lake, listening to th e bull frogs and spring peepers serenading us as the stars came out. I loved the solar lights on the dock and deck that added a magical touch as well as lighting your way. The sleeping cabin by the water was small but charming with its knotty pine walls and cathedral ceiling, beautiful wooden bed frame, and a wonderful picture window to enjoy the view from. This is a great spot for kayakers with miles of water to explore in each direction. I enjoyed observing herons, Canada geese with their babies, and diving loons with their haunting call. This area is best for small watercraft though due to a number of slightly submerged rocks that could be hazardous to those less familiar with the water way. There are a number of people who do use small motor boats and pontoon boats through this area, however. Overall the owners have created a great place to enjoy the restful beauty of the Adirondacks. This is a great spot for two or three couples looking to get away as there are separate areas for private space, yet plenty of beautiful comfortable room to gather and enjoy each other's company.”
