Woodland House, formerly called Lake George House, a well-kept 2,200-square-foot, 4-bedroom, 4-bath house completed only in 2001, is the only house on a 47-acre parcel of wooded land. With its large, bright and open living-dining-kitchen area and a 10' x 24' screened porch, the house contains plenty of space for the comfort of up to 10 people. With its knotty-pine walls, oak or ceramic tile floors, large windows to view the woods, and all the conveniences, Woodland House provides a place for a comfortable, relaxing vacation any time of year.

On January 26, 2014, our guest gave us this review--

We stayed at the house last week to do some winter activities and it was way beyond what we expected. Party of 8, very spacious and clean and everything at your fingertips. Everyone loved the decor, simple yet elegant. We had a great time, Melissa was most helpful with getting everything ready for our weekend. We would definitely stay here again, without a doubt one of the best cabins we've rented and most courteous owners. Thanks for everything, it was a fantastic weekend. Rob

The dining table will seat your entire group, up to ten people, and the kitchen contains an unusual abundance of cooking and serving equipment.
Two bedrooms are on the main, upper floor. Each of those has a queen bed, a full bath, and a walk-in closet with a window overlooking the rock ledges.
Downstairs are one bedroom with a full bath, a walk-in closet, a set of twin beds that can be made into a king bed, and a narrow single bed. The other, a very spacious room, has a pair of twin beds that can be made into a king-size bed, a futon sofa that can become a double bed, the second TV with DVD player, and a walk-in closet. Guests who stay in that room use the full bath off the hall upstairs.
It's a ten-minute drive to either Lake George Village and Bolton Landing for several fine beaches. Five minutes to marinas for renting a boat. Thirty-five minutes to skiing at Gore or West Mountain.
Pets are welcomed.
The Ping-Pong table on the screened porch provides entertainment in all except the most frigid weather.
A private hiking trail around the woodlands out back guides you along a walk of about 1.4 miles (one way) through beautiful forested land with tall cliffs, rock ledges, a stream within an amazing 100-foot-deep gorge, sightings of the lake through the trees, and at the trail's end magnificent views of the lake from the Narrows and Tongue Mountain in the north, and to the south, all of Long, Canoe, and Speaker Heck islands, French Mountain, Cleverdale, and mountains in Vermont and Massachusetts. You do need hiking boots for this walk
A fire pit is available for small camp fires provided no dry weather conditions make an outdoor fire a serious hazard.
The wireless Internet connection enables you to keep in touch while away.
The owner lives 2.4 miles away and will promptly and personally respond to any problems you encounter during your stay.
We have been given an A+ accreditation by the Better Business Bureau of Upstate New York.

Pet Policy: Because it is surrounded by woods, Woodland House is a good place to bring your well-behaved pet or pets. You can walk your dog in the woods around the house, and there are no houses nearby whose owners might be annoyed by the animals. Dog fees are $50 for a weekend; $85 for a week per dog. Cat fees are negotiable.
Smoking Policy: We ask that all smoking be done on the screened porch, not in the house or in the woods around the house. In the winter, the screens on the porch are covered with Plexiglas for shelter from the elements.
Cleaning Policy: All cleaning fees are included in the rent. We ask that the house be prepared for check-out by removing most food from the refrigerator, washing the dishes and returning them to the cabinets, and leaving all furniture and other items in their original places. We also require recyclables be kept out of the trash and sorted in the recycling station in the laundry room downstairs.
Linen Policy: We supply all the bed linens, bath towels, and kitchen towels you will need, but not beach towels. Beds are made up before you arrive.
Security Deposit Information: We require payment of a refundable security deposit of $100 to $300 depending on the size of the group and length of stay. It is returned in full on our check after the house is cleaned provided no damage is done, no excess cleaning is required, recyclables are kept out of the trash and sorted into bins provided, and you observe the agreed-upon departure time.

Meet the Owner(s)

About Us: As running the rental houses is my full-time work, I say I'm an innkeeper! Living just 2 miles away, year round, I can take good care of the property and my guests. I do manage the place in the most environmentally friendly ways I can and love concerts at the Sembrich Museum in Bolton and at the Lake George Music Festival running August 15 - 25 this year. . My daughter, a biology teacher, lives in Baltimore. My son and wife and young daughter live in Portland, Maine.

Why our property is special: Because of what this review, received September 25, 2015, says!-- Lake George Vacation Our family of seven enjoyed a week's vacation at this lovely home. The home is private, spacious, quiet and relaxing. Private bedrooms and baths for all. Well-equipped kitchen (the best we've seen!). Melissa is a very accommodating host, excellent with communication and planning. Lake George is a beautiful place to visit and a vacation worth taking! Thanks, Melissa, for sharing your lovely home.
