Paradise found! The Gate House is a brand new off grid home in an extremely remote location with all the creature comforts we're all accustomed to. The Gate House is about a mile from Loon Lake in the middle of the woods with two 5 acre ponds and virtually no neighbors for miles. It is about 35 minutes to Saranac Lake and 45 minutes to Lake Placid of Plattsburgh. From the moment you arrive you will be in awe of the home and your surroundings! There are 2 bedrooms each with queen beds, a loft wit …h 2 full sized beds and 1 1/2 bathrooms. The home sits on 125 acres and is off grid (solar with generator backup.)
There is so much that can be done right outside the doors! Explore the private ponds on the property. There are many places nearby you can go fishing, canoeing and kayaking. You can walk or drive a few miles to the north branch of the Saranac River for trout fishing. There are many thousands of miles of hiking and biking trails right outside the door and we are in a great location for day hikes to some of the ADK high peaks and even some not so high peaks. Crusher Mountain is at the end of Mensink Rd (a couple miles from camp), it is a very short hike to the top and there is a great view. If you are a little more adventurous then you can hike Loon Lake Mountains and see the fire tower which is about a 6 mile round trip. One thing is for sure, you and your family and friends are sure to have a great vacation at The Gate House!
***Water is not potable but fresh spring water is provided***

“We had a wonderful time at the Gatehouse, taking a break for a few days off from our busy schedule, to relax. It has all the amenities one needs being away from home. Since it was starting to get cold we enjoyed the heated floor and gas stove in particular. We discovered one can be off-grid without missing anything and the nature around the house is just amazing. The host was very responsive taking care of us and everything we needed. We would like to return hopefully soon.”

“We (wife, dog, Maine Coon kitten, and I) spent 2 weeks here mid-September, and had a wonderful time. As a tribute to the owner, Matt, we honestly thought we were close to the first to rent this property, as it was spotless on our arrival. Met Matt the first day, in text contact a few times after that, but never saw him again, although I know he was there at least once or twice. The house, amenities, appliances, etc, left nothing to be desired, the screened in porch got high 5s from all (Kiri, the kitten, had the best time watching the red squirrels and chipmunks), Ellie loved laying in the sun. House is tight, quiet, and warm. No cell service, but high speed internet and a big screen, if that's your thing. We have vacationed on PEI for many years, prior to Covid, and unfortunately for PEI, we've found a new favorite. Averaged less than 1 motor vehicle per day, quiet enough to hear the wind in the crow's wings as they flew over. Loons, herons, deer, etc, miles and miles of woods paths, ponds, etc. If you're looking for comfortable secluded accommodations, in our humble opinion, you've found it. Saranac Lake, the village and the hospital, and Lake Placid, are all easily reachable, and the VIC at Paul Smith's is more wonderfulness near by. Both thumbs up, 5 stars, etc. Thank you Matt, for sharing this with us. ”

“What a Beautiful Cabin and Amazing Property. This cabin had all of the wonderful conveniences of home but still the cozy, off the grid feeling you want in a mountain cabin. With plenty of beautiful hiking areas or chill and read a book spaces, we loved our time here. Even though we were here during the summer months, we are so excited to come back in the winter months for all that this property has to offer. We Highly Recommend this Escape Home!”

“We had an absolutely fabulous vacation at The Gate House! The house is beautiful and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The setting is private and serene, the firepit is fabulous, and the pond is super fun! Matt, the owner, ensured we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back next year!! Thank you so much! ”

“We couldnt have been happier with this lovely, remote modern cabin. We were 5 adults, one child and a small dog and the place was big enough for all of us. Our first impression was that the cabin was so clean and airy. The kitchen was well equipped with a full size refrigerator and we had plenty of drinking water. The grounds were well maintained and we really enjoyed sitting in the screened in porch. Overall, it was a great week and we would not hesitate to return.”

“Recently stayed a week at the cabin, it was extremely well maintained and beautiful. The cabin sits on a large pond and is picturesque. The cabin is solar powered, and provided ample power during the stay. The generator kicked on a few times because it rained and was cloudy during the stay, but it was seamless, quiet and did not affect the stay at all. Theres a ton of hiking and kayaking/canoeing near by and also a spot to swim not too far away. The pond is beautiful, but unsure if its able to be swam in. Definitely a fantastic place especially if you love to explore. Loon lake is very close and has a new general store where theres coffee, fresh baked goods, and supplies. ”

“My husband, our 2 pups and I had the pleasure to be the 1st renters who stayed at this beautiful cabin. It's secluded, homey, relaxing and the perfect place to stay in the Adirondacks. We had the pleasure of meeting the owner and he was very friendly, helpful and respectful of our privacy. He dropped off water for drinking and cooking as it's NOT potable. He made sure we were comfortable, happy and enjoying our stay. He also brought gas for the generator. We will definitely be coming every year to stay at this GEM . Pictures don't do any justice to seeing the beautiful work in person. The property is well maintained and the pond is very relaxing. Everything detail has been thought out and you can see it when you pull in. The screened porch was very nice to sit and watch the beautiful scenery. We loved our time there. ”
