Originally built at the turn of the century by one of the original owners of the Saranac Inn, Fern is a special place for families and groups to relax and unwind and appreciate the true meaning of "vacation" as the term was coined here some 150 years ago.

The cottage has 5 bedrooms, two baths, and access t …o a shared dock on Upper Saranac a short walk away. The screened in porch is cozy and a perfect spot for puzzles, board games, and cocktails. The ample lawn space is great for bbqs and lawn games and the smokeless fire pit provides a relaxing space to roast marshmallows and tuck into a campfire at the end of a fun-filled ADK day. The renowned Saranac Inn Golf Course (18 holes, rated 4.5 stars by Golf Digest) is a short walk from the property, as is the NYS Public Boat Launch. Two kayaks and a canoe can be available free of charge upon request.

The towns of Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake (home to the Wild Center) are each located a 15 minute drive away and Lake Placid (twice home to the Olympic Games) is a 30 minute drive. The Paul Smiths Visitor's Interpretive Center is also 15 minutes, with great walking and hiking trails and in winter, guests can take advantage of world class skiing (and the largest downhill vertical in the northeast) at Whiteface Mountain, a 45 minute drive away.
