This seasonal rustic cabin is located just 30 feet from the tranquil and clear waters of beautiful Balfour Lake in the heart of the Adirondacks, 15 miles due south of Mount Marcy. Wake up to the call of loons, sip coffee on the porch overlooking the lake and stunning views of the pristine and "forever wild" Vanderwacker Wilderness Area. Ideal for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, trout fishing, and nearby world-class hiking. Spend evenings by the firepit, stargazing under the open sky. It is a true … Adirondack experience!
This cabin sleeps up to 6 guests comfortably and is furnished with rustic charm. With warm wood finishes, it includes a great room with fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen (minus dishwasher), three bedrooms, 1 1/2 baths, loft, porches, and small separate waterfront cabin for game play or solitude.
It has a private dock and swim raft, and over 120 feet of lake frontage. Kayaks and canoes are provided. And guests may bring their own small, non-powered watercraft (must be able to be carried).
Things to know about our cabin:
Our rustic cabin is seasonal, meaning it can be rented in Summer and early Fall.
It does not include conventional heating and cooling systems or laundry facilities. A magnificent stone fireplace and also electric space heaters can provide heat on a cool Adirondack night if needed, and second floor ceiling fans as well as portable fans are included. A laundromat and local conveniences are just a short drive away. The cabin is equipped high-speed internet and WiFi which works well both inside and outside. House water is drawn from the lake, so separate potable water for drinking and cooking is provided.
Lastly the natural terrain of this property and sloped approach to the cabin may not be accessible for some physically-challenged guests.

About Us: The owners are an architect from Albany and an elementary school teacher from Montreal who met in the middle, were married, and over a few years designed and built their vision of a dream waterfront Adirondack retreat for their family of four.
Why we think you will enjoy staying in Minerva: Hiking trails, access to the majestic High Peaks for the 46'ers, Vanderwacker Mountain fire tower with some of the very best views of the High Peaks, the Towns of North Creek, Schroon Lake, Pottersville and Minerva which offer shopping, restaurants, museums and lots of other stuff- How about a horse drawn carriage ride to historic Great Camp Santanoni? Swimming in the unspoiled Hudson River under towering cliffs at Blue Ledges? Natural Stone Bridge and Caves? And this is just a partial list!
Why our property is special: Balfour Lake is so idyllic it made the cover of the prestigious Adirondack Life Calendar in 2019. The Lake is stocked with brown and rainbow trout, and borders uninhabited and primitive forest. It is a birder's paradise with owls, osprey, bald eagles, loons, songbirds, woodpeckers and hummingbirds. We are so fortunate to have this perfect setting to build our dream of a quiet lakefront cabin which is designed and furnished to honor the historic architecture of the rustic Adirondack style.
