Welcome to Adirondack Heaven! Bear Lodge is the perfect place for your next family vacation spring, summer, winter and fall. Our beautiful log cabin on the lake is the ideal setting for making memories that will last a lifetime.
Bear Lodge is on the shore of Adirondack Lake in the Town of Indian Lake. The cabin is situated off a quiet road on a two acre lot lined on both sides with trees leaving the setting private, peaceful and serene. Adirondack Lake is perfect for a family to enjoy fishing …, swimming, canoeing, and quieter pursuits. There is a 10hp limit on boats for non-owners.
Indian Lake is a small town centrally located in the Adirondack Park at the intersections of Routes 28 and 30. The town offers the convenience of local restaurants, movie theatre, ice cream shop, gas stations, convenience stores and some small shops. These are about five minutes from the cabin and easily walkable.
The home itself is a beautiful log cabin. The master bedroom is on the main floor with a hand-carved, bear-themed queen bed and large sitting area. The second bedroom has two twin beds, perfect for kids. The main bath has a tub/shower and mirrored vanity with room for your personal items. The loft features a queen-sized sleigh bed and a breathtaking view. This bedroom has a private bath with shower and skylight. For more photos and information, please visit our personal website (listed at the bottom of this web page under Owner's Contact Information).
Awaiting your entrance in the spacious great room are a cathedral ceiling, skylight, hardwood floors, and a wall filled with large windows giving you a spectacular lake view. The sliding glass doors lead to a large, multi-level deck with seating for you to relax and enjoy the lake and the smell of fresh pine forest. The stairs in the great room feature a rustic railing and lead to the loft.
The kitchen is well-equipped with a gas stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, pots, pans, dishes and silverware as well as various bowls, pitchers, and tools. Outside there is a charcoal grill for your barbeques.
From the deck, follow the path to our dock and beautiful Adirondack Lake. Take the canoe for a peaceful glide around the lake, or row the 12' fishing boat. There is a small shed by the lake with life preservers of various sizes and fishing gear. Just off the dock is a swim raft which is fun for splashing into the cool, clear water. You might enjoy just sitting on the dock, dipping your feet in the lake and watching for some of the many birds of the Adirondacks.
In the evenings, build a fire in the lakeside fire pit and roast marshmallows, sing camp songs, tell ghost stories, or just enjoy the bountiful stars and peaceful evening air.
The selection of activities in Indian Lake is plentiful. Discover nature on some of the abundant hiking trails. Difficulty levels vary from easy strolls to demanding mountain climbs so there is something for everyone. Fall is a wonderful time to visit the trails and delight your senses with the spectrum of colors as the leaves change. Other activities in town include white water rafting, golfing, and mountain biking. Bikes can be rented at Pine's Country Store in town.
The cabin is close to other attractions in the Adirondack Park. Blue Mountain Lake is just 13 miles west and offers the must-see Adirondack Museum, and Great Camp Sagamore. Among the additional possibilities are Enchanted Forest Water Park in Old Forge, Lake Placid's Olympic village, Lake George Village and Shopping Outlets, Great Escape Theme Park, and Water Slide World.
In winter, our heated home is the perfect base from which to enjoy many winter sports. There are a variety of downhill ski slopes nearby including Gore Mountain which is 17 miles to the east. For the beginner, there is a small hill with two slopes and t-bar in Indian Lake. This hill is also great for sledding. An ice rink is available (weather permitting) and rentals are available at Pines Country Store. There are three cross-country ski/snow-shoe trails in town with one right down the street from the cabin.
Smoking and pets are not allowed indoors or out on the property and that policy is firm due to family allergies.
We welcome you to enjoy a vacation stay at our little bit of Adirondack heaven on earth. We're sure your stay will be one your whole family will love and talk about for years to come. Give us a call!

“This is our 2nd time renting Bear Lodge and we completely enjoyed our stay. The cabin is situated on a nice private spot on the lake and has everything you need to enjoy the lake. The owners are easy to deal with and the cabin is very comfortable. The fishing was good,a couple nice smallmouth and a nice lake to kayak. The fall foilage was great for photos along with some nice eagle pics! Hope to be back soon.”

“My husband and I rented Bear Lodge for a week in July. It was a wonderful vacation and we hope to be able to return in the future. The cabin is situated above the lake and provides a beautiful view. It is a very quiet, peaceful, private location. The cabin was clean and vey well equipped. It was spacious enough for us to share with our daughter, husband and baby. What a great place for a family to connect- swimming, boating, reading, games, walking, campfires and meals on the deck. We felt fortunate to find this great vacation rental!”

“Cannot help but soak up the peacefulness in this enchantingly lovely lodge. Fabulous view of the lake, fringed by pines, which we enjoyed while surrounded by the cabin's luscious vibe. Great care taken for guests' needs ~ warm, welcoming, meticulously cared for place. Bombed about on Gore Mt. with 100% coverage, super-duper conditions ~ gotta love Gore's glades! Don't miss Marty's Chili Nites in Indian Lake, bit 'chili' to walk to it, but you easily could...We toasted Spring coming along soon, while watching snowflakes drift down. Would definitely visit again & would love to stay longer...”

“I have stayed at this lovely cabin twice - once in winter and once in summer and both times it was fantastic! The setting is peaceful and serene. The cabin is warm and inviting, comfortable and super clean. During our summer trip the whole family unplugged and it was exactly what we needed. (There is wifi, cable, and a phone, but your kids don't have to know that!) We kayaked, and hiked, and swam. The kids loved the hammock tucking off in trees. If we had brought our mountain bikes we could have done that too! There's tons to do, but you can easily choose to just sit on the dock and soak in the calming energy of this little bit of Heaven. In the winter, Gore Mountain is really close. Perfect for a skiing get away! There was lots of snow while we were there. While I didn't ski, I enjoyed taking photographs, long walks (the temps were in the 20's for us) - looking for critter prints in the snow, reading, and just soaking in the stillness. I finally relaxed for the first time in weeks! ”

“The Bear Lodge had everything we needed for a fun and peaceful family vacation. The lake is beautiful and the hiking opportunities within a short drive are incredible. The town of Indian Lake has all the basics, but we had to drive a little further for most supplies. We will plan accordingly when we go back this summer... we are all looking forward to our return visit! ”
Owner's Response
“To clarify, there are two well-stocked convenience stores right in town as well as Pines Country Store. A larger grocery store is about 15 miles.”

“Bear Lodge on Adirondack Lake is truly one of the most peaceful, private and serene places we've ever been to in the Adirondacks. With all the amenities imaginable we experienced the lake and mountain views, enjoyed the kayaks, canoe, row boat with electric motor, swim platform, fishing gear, pre-prepared fire pit, washer & dryer, games and all the fun filled activities for the kids. The list is endless. Bear Lodge is even prettier in person than the website can do it justice for! Decorated in pure "Adirondack fashion" it exhibited all of the comforts of home. We were visited by all sorts of spectacular wildlife: loons, ducks & ducklings, we saw a heron fly several times overhead and of course, caught our fair share of fish. Just a short and scenic drive from Bear Lodge is the Adirondack Museum in Blue Mountain Lake, Inlet, Old Forge and the Enchanted Forest Water Safari, Hoss's store in Long Lake and lastly, Tupper Lake for The Wild Center, which was really very cool.We even hiked Sawyers Mountain which is one of the easiest trails around can't wait to relive it all again next year! Thanks so much to our fabulous hosts for sharing their "sweet piece of heaven" with us.”

“BOB AND PATSY, JUST WANTED OT THANK YOU FOR MAKING YOU HOME AVAILABLE. WE WERE STRUGGLING TO FIND A COMPROMISE WITH OUR 2 TEENAGE BOYS AS TO WHAT WE WERE GOING TO DO FOR VACATION THIS YEAR. TURNS OUT BEAR LODGE WAS THE PERFECT CHOICE FOR US! THE CABIN WAS NICE AND WELL STOCKED. THE LOCATION WAS EXCELLENT! THE CABIN IS IN A PRIVATE LITTLE COVE IN A SMALLER LAKE. THIS GAVE US THE PEACE AND QUIET MY WIFE AND I WERE LOOKING FOR WHILE THE KAYAKS, CANOE AND ROW BOAT PROVIDED EVERYONE THE ACTIVITIES TO KEEP US BUSY ALL WEEK. WE LOVED EXPLORING ADIRONACK LAKE! THE ONLY PROBLEM WE ENCOUNTERED WAS A SMALL APPLIANCE MALFUNCTION, WHICH THE OWNERS TOOK CARE OF THE SAME DAY!! MANY THANKS!! ESPECIALLY SINCE YOU ARE NOT LOCAL AND WE KNOW THIS TOOK A BIT OF DOING ON YOUR PART TO GET DONE. ONE OTHER THING RENTERS MAY WANT TO CONSIDER IS THAT THERE IS NO CELL PHONE SERVICE HERE, BUT THE CABIN DOES HAVE WIFI! IF YOU NEED TO USE YOUR CELL PHONE, YOU WILL NEED TO DRIVE ABOUT 5 -10 MINUTE TO GET A SIGNAL. ALL IN ALL, WE HAD A GREAT TIME AND HOPE TO COME BACK!! THANKS AGAIN, JERRY AND DEBBIE”
Owner's Response
“We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. I would like to add that while I think it is wonderful to be away from the phone, we have had renters address the lack of cell service by forwarding their calls to the cabin's land line. Guests can also simply give the cabin land line number to anyone they expect to call.”

“Our family had a wonderful time in this beautiful vacation home. The property is right on the lake with boats on its own pier to take out on the water, which we often did. The home itself has all the comforts, was clean, and is just as stated on the website. We had a campfire at night near the lake. There is lots to do in the Adirondack area nearby as well. We went tubing on Indian Lake (5 minutes away), white water rafting on the Hudson River and toured Lake Placid and Mirror Lake (a small drive). We also went zip lining near Lake George, our kids loved it. Highly recommend this beautiful property for a relaxing, peaceful time. It was a second visit to Bear Lodge in 3 years.”
