“We loved our stay here! The main house is spacious, clean, and nicely decorated with a large living area, fully-equipped kitchen, pool table, screened porch, and ping pong. The cabins are charming. The lake is beautiful and quiet - we had so much fun swimming, paddling around in the kayaks and canoes, and watching the loons. We made smores and told stories around the campfire. Thank you for the magical memories! ”

“Beautiful place. So quiet and peaceful with private access to the lake and a canoe and kayaks to explore the water. House is VERY well equipped with all kinds of spices, a pool table, and a ping pong table. Perfect getaway for a family. The owners are responsive and friendly, too. Highly recommend!”

“Thanks Mitch! The ping pong table is out of commission right now, but we have bought a second canoe for renters! Hope you'll come back soon.”

“Wow! Our stay at Garby Camp could not have been more relaxing and rejuvenating. Horseshoe pond provides stunning views for morning coffee and was the perfect temperature for refreshing afternoon swims. The dock was also a great place for observing wildlife- we spotted several different species of birds over the week. We also got the chance to really immerse ourselves in the beauty of the Adirondacks by taking the kayaks out on a trip (highly recommend). Our rooms were clean and comfortable, as were the common areas in the main house. We enjoyed playing billiards, roasting marshmallows in the fire pit, and picking out movies from the extensive DVD collection! If you go, you have to walk down to the dock to see the stars at night. They're breathtaking! Juan and Micah were generous, communicative hosts. Were so happy they shared Garby with us! We will definitely be returning next year. ”

“I went to Garby Camp in search of tranquility, a respite from the stress of living in New York City, and I couldn't have asked for a more soothing place. Sliding into the lake at sunrise, when I felt like it belonged to me alone, was one of my greatest pleasures. Taking the kayak and paddling to the far corners of the lake was another favorite. Then there was the comfortable, welcoming atmosphere in the house. The combination of privacy at the lake and accessibility to everything from hiking at Paul Smith College to looking for antiques and local honey in nearby Malone make this a uniquely attractive vacation home. The days I spent at Garby Camp were restorative both physically and mentally, and I can't wait to go back! ”

“Fourteen of us, from various places in New York State, and from Atlanta and Seattle, just spent another great week at this Camp. This is our second year. We had a bit of excitement at the beginning of our stay as state troopers were still searching for one of the convicts who had escaped from prison a few weeks before. The kids found it quite exciting to wake up the second morning and find troopers wearing vests and with rifles drawn searching the property. But the escapee was captured a few hours later and we all went back to swimming, canoeing, kayaking, game playing, eating too much, and songfests around a campfire every night with guitars, a ukele and drum. Those who couldnt play, sang, and those who couldnt sing, lip-synched. The owners of the property, could not have been nicer or more helpful with anything we wanted or needed. I am particularly impressed with the fact that Garby comes with linens and towels; in the past Ive had to bring them for everyone and it filled half the car. The house has everything one could need and more. We had a game this year of each of us counting all the elk and moose in the house to see if we came up with the same number; we did not agree, so were passing the challenge to other guests. You will have a wonderful time.”

“Just returned home from a wonderful weeks vacation at this Camp. We stayed in the Main house and found it very comfortable and loved the Adirondack decor throughout. The camp has everything needed to have a relaxing and enjoyable time. The large flat property was perfect for all ages in our family. We enjoyed the fire pit for cook outs in the evening and the kayaks, canoe and rowboat right on site really made our vacation. Fishing, cooking out on the grill, sight seeing in the Saranac and Lake Placid area and stargazing were just some of the highlights. The owners are very easy to communicate with and assure that you have everything necessary at their Camp. It is obvious that they take great care of this property. Wish we would have had a few more days to enjoy the Camp, a week just didn't seem to be enough! This is definitely a place that we will return to in the future.”

“Just wanted to say what a wonderful time the Forney/Keller Clan had here at Garby Camp this past July. The house and the view are just beautiful ... The cabins are rustic, but very comfortable. Everything you need is already there... pots and pans, dishes, free firewood, rowboat (which we used with our trolling motor), canoe, kayaks....etc. The kitchen facilities were great for cooking, and there was enough of everything, even for our large group. Also the grill outside was plenty big enough for our group. The owners were easy to work with, and even though we were without power the first 2 days (due to a storm the night before we arrived) they were right on top of things, making sure that we had what we needed. There were 15 in our group and there was plenty of sleeping space for us all. If I had to give one negative ... the only thing I can think of, is that the mattresses on the beds could be upgraded. They were a little saggy and you did end up rolling to the middle of the mattress each night. But we were always so tired by the time we went to sleep that it did not bother us too much. Garby Camp had plenty to do right on site, we were never bored ... horseshoes, kayaking, fishing, swimming, bonfires ...etc. We caught fish every day and kayaked out to the Deer River Flow quite a few times... It was SO beautiful out there in the flow!! ... gorgeous views no matter which way you turned! There are also many things to see and do just a short car ride away. I would wake up every morning to watch the River Otters playing right near the dock, and fall asleep at night to the sound of the waterfall behind the cabin and the call of the Loons. I can't say enough good things about Garby Camp. If you ever want to get away to a beautiful and peaceful place, where you can enjoy nature and the company of your family give it a try.”

“Garby Camp is just what we were looking for - someplace that has it all! It is wonderfully rustic and quiet, but with modern amenities. There is lots to do right there on the GORGEOUS property (we especially enjoyed the kayaking and canoeing), but there are many activities within a 30 minute drive as well. We rented both the main cabin and guiders camp, but with either of the areas, there is plenty of room to spread out - both inside and outdoors. Bad weather is not a problem; the owners have provided you with lots of options, from movies and books, to games, puzzles, and of course, the pool table. The main cabin kitchen is wonderfully appointed and all the cabins show off the owners' great decorating sense. They obviously put a lot of time into ensuring that people have the best stay possible at Garby Camp. They have even compiled an incredibly complete notebook on everything you might need to know during your stay, from where to find certain items in the cabins, to what to do in the area, to a useful "list of things most commonly left behind". There is a landline phone for making local calls and receiving incoming calls - like many areas in the region, not all cell phone services work on the property (but they do within a 5 minute drive). There is a charming family-owned store with enough food and drink essentials to get you through a couple of days that is close enough to walk to (amazing luck given how rural the area is); a big chain market is about a 15 minute drive away. The owners were great to rent from - they were prompt, very friendly and extremely helpful when we corresponded via email or spoke on the phone with them. We had a great, fun and relaxing time and hope to organize friends and family to go back!”

“Garby Camp has it all! We have been staying at Garby Camp for the past two years and plan to do so moving forward every year. The peaceful setting is a perfect get-away every August for our family.
There are approximately twenty of us that make the trip each year and there is plenty of room between the main house and the cabins. Everything is well-kept and in great shape. The other nice thing is that each year there are improvements to the property in one extent or another. You can tell the owners care and want to provide an ideal setting for a family vacation.
The amount of activities that you can participate in during your stay is also unbelievable. Whether you want to swim or kayak on Horseshoe pond, go hiking or to the beach at Meacham Lake State Park, golf, or travel into Saranac and Lake Placid - there is plenty for everyone.
Garby Camp is truly a special place in the heart of the Adirondacks. The only negative thing about our stay is that it can't be longer!”

“What a great vacation stay! The house was beautiful and had everything we could possible need. This was our first time taking this type of vacation and I was a bit worried if it would keep everyone busy and interested. That was not a problem. It was a trip where we made great memories.
We were very lucky fishing, had canoe races, swam off the dock. I even brought a set up with me so that we could watch the movie GROWN UPS outside by the camp fire.
We searched and searched for the eagles but no luck. However, it was fun looking and I will continue my search next trip. I LOVED the night sky. It was unbelievable.
I know a review should be balanced with both positive and negative points. By honestly, it was a perfect week in a perfect location that had EVERYTHING we needed.
So many people I spoke to before I left wanted me to let them know how it was. I am worried if I tell them all, Garby Camp will be all booked up in the future. Just kidding. I will share pictures and memories.
