A place to begin your memories, and the perfect way to experience the Adirondacks. Camp Chesterwind is located 30 ft from the shore of Upper Saranac Lake. Built with traditional Adirondack charm, our 4 season fully heated camp has an open floor plan, a large fully equipped kitchen with granite counter tops from the Au Sable quarry, and opens to a classic 25'x25' cedar beamed Great Room overlooking the lake. Adjacent to the Great Room is a 20' x 16' deck designed for private relaxation and evenin …g star gazing. The hand-made dining table comfortably seats 6 and is made from local bark-on pine and cedar. Three comfortable bedrooms, two with a king beds and the third with two twins. Two full bathrooms. The yard has a large outdoor camp-fire pit for roasting marshmallows, a large picnic table, and gas grill. The 36 ft dock looks out over open water and is perfect for sunbathing, fishing and swimming. We also provide a 14ft Canoe, two single person kayaks and fishing gear.
Camp Chesterwind faces west, with views of Chapel Island, Panther Mountain and serene evening sunsets. Chapel Island is a 10 minute canoe paddle away and holds non-denominational services on Sundays during the summer. Paddle over or drive to Indian Carry and catch the shuttle boat to the island.
Ampersand Mountain and Panther Mountain hiking trails are only a 5 mile drive away. Not to be missed, the award winning Adirondack Wild Center is located close by in Tupper Lake.
The Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks, The Olympic Village of Lake Placid, Paul Smiths College Visitors Interpretive Center, the Ausable River, and Whiteface Mt. Are all a short drive away. The town of Saranac Lake is 10 miles to the east, and Tupper Lake is 10 miles west. Additional boat rentals are available at Lake Flower Marina, Crescent Bay Marina. No Jet Skis please.
