A memorable vacation exploring the great canoeing and kayaking just outside the door! Or simply relax and enjoy the large screened porch overlooking the boot bay area of Rainbow Lake. Camp Catamount is a waterfront Adirondack camp located u …nder the tall pines in a quiet cove within the "Boot Bay" area of Rainbow Lake. With 200 feet of waterfront, this location is private, quiet and relaxing with great wildlife viewing, fishing and paddling just outside the door! In addition to the Rainbow Lake / Lake Kushaqua waterway, within minutes are places to explore, such as hiking trails, lakes, ponds, rivers and mountains. The camp is conveniently located, just 15 minutes from Saranac Lake, 25 minutes to Lake Placid and 40 minutes to Tupper Lake. You will definitely find enough here to keep yourself occupied whether its on the water, in the mountains or in town. Camp Catamount has a fully equipped and recently updated kitchen with a dishwasher and 5 burner stove. The water is supplied by a 500ft deep filtered well. The camp is structured as a single floor design with all rooms accessible without climbing any stairs. The kitchen and living room areas of the camp have a large open floor plan with a raised ceiling and large windows. There are two private bedrooms with (2) queen size beds and (1) *cot. For your convenience there is one bathroom/laundry room with a washer and dryer. The camp is fully equipped with both propane and electric heat for those cool Adirondack mornings, and a built in AIR CONDITIONER for the occasional hot days. The interior design of the camp is highlighted by "Adirondack Knotty Pine" walls and ceilings, a stone faced hearth and woodstove. *Designed to be very comfortable and plenty of space for a small family or two couples. The lakeside camp has a large screened porch with a deck area for dining and relaxing into the evening hours. The waterfront side of the property includes an outdoor fire pit for camp fires and plenty of shoreline to be used for outdoor activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, and outdoor relaxation. In addition to the amenities listed below, Camp Catamount comes equipped with high speed internet (WIFI), a flat screen television. Cell phone access is now available at Camp Catamount. Included with your visit to Camp Catamount is the usage of (1)rowboat, (1)canoe and (2)kayaks which are stored in the boathouse. (Life jackets, paddles and oars are provided). We also provide some fishing equipment, enough for two anglers. Fishing poles(2) and an assortment of fishing lures. There are large mouth bass, small mouth bass, walleye, northern pike and a abundance of other species within the Rainbow Lake and Lake Kushaqua waterway. Rainbow Lake is made up of several interconnected bodies of water including Boot Bay, Clear Pond, Rainbow Narrows and Lake Kushaqua. They are all accessible by water allowing for days of paddling, fishing and wildlife viewing. You can spend unlimited hours exploring the islands, eskers and coves on the lake. There are also a few campsites located on some of the islands for overnight camping trips. The lake has no public boat launch, which limits the amount of boat traffic and provides quiet water paddling for canoeing and kayaking enthusiasts. Fishing in Rainbow Lake and Lake Kushaqua is great for largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike, walleye and trout, in addition to other varieties of native fish. Points of interests nearby include Catamount Mountain, Kushaqua Land Tract Wilderness Area, Whiteface Mountain, Mt Marcy, Azure Mountain, St Regis Mountain, Lake Placid Olympic Village, Mt Van Hoevenberg Olympic Luge, Lake Placid Olympic Ski Jump, Hill Falls Gorge, Adirondack Visitor's Interpretive Center. Adirondack Museum, Floodwood Canoe Area, Loon Lake Mtn trail St Regis Wilderness Area, Little Tupper Lake, Azure Mountain and many more. The Adirondacks are a great place to visit in the spring and fall months also. Area activities include paddling, hiking, rock climbing, biking, fishing, foliage viewing, wildlife viewing and outdoor sports. The Adirondack Lakes region is surrounded by multiple lakes, ponds, mountains and hiking trails making it a paradise for those who appreciate the outdoors. Several of the surrounding lakes, ponds and flows are noted in Adirondack books and maps as quiet water paddling places. Why we think you will enjoy staying in Rainbow Lake: Rainbow Lake and connecting Lake Kushaqua offer endless hours of recreational activities including swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, picnicing, wildlife viewing and overnight camping . A paddling trip down to Lake Kushaqua or around the esker into Clear pond offer different places to explore including deep secluded coves and islands. Some with trails that are a short hike to smaller nearby ponds. Great fishing is right outside the door from ice-out thru the early fall months.
