Date of Stay: July 2020
Posted On: 8/14/20 by Mary D.
“My family and I made an escape from Covid the last week of May and again in July 2020. The lake greeted us with its beauty on our arrival, but its true magic revealed itself on the breeze. The pristine water from the lake clears the air and tastes sweet. Although there was WiFi, we were all able to unplug, relax and appreciate the simplicity and beauty of our surroundings. In May, we stayed in the Chalet, clearly designed for large family gatherings with its spacious living room, generous dining area and giant deck overlooking the lake. The weather was unseasonably warm, sunny and perfect! To our great delight, the wall of windows in the main dining area overlooking the lake allowed the sun and moon, in all their glory, to assault us day and night as they sparkled and reflected off the lake; truly a welcome gift. The chalet was fully equipped with chef grade cookware, cutlery, charcoal grill and "old school" dishwasher; bring your own washing liquids and sponges; plenty of dish towels to be had there. The kitchen was equipped with a full refrigerator and separate beverage frig, which came in handy! The bedrooms were outfitted with comfortable beds, pillows, blankets and coverlets; bring your own sheets. The washer and dryer were first rate, which is important for anyone traveling with kids or family! The 1 bathroom is downstairs, so if you are a night crawler, sleep in the queen room on the first floor. The windows in the second floor master bedroom run the entire length of the room and afford divine breezes and constant music from the water on the lake. So... we got lucky and booked for later in the season. Our second stay in July was in the Bay House on the opposite side of the peninsula (4 minute stroll). The layout of this cottage shed a totally different vibe. The communal living space is compact in comparison to the Chalet, but ample given that we tend not to spend too much time inside. The bedrooms are all equally generous in size and the new beds are super comfortable. The kitchen is separated from the living area with an island/counter equipped with pull up stools; perfect for casual dining. There is a table that seats 6 in the kitchen, a vast wrap around deck outside with table and chairs and a picnic table on the grass between the cottage and the lake. Downstairs opposite the kitchen and living room , there are 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom with shower and plenty of storage. In the center of the cottage, there is a cool spiral staircase (not ideal for small children but my teens loved it!) leading up to 2 bedrooms and a giant bathroom with tub and lots of storage. There is an out building just outside the back door with (once again) a first rate washer and dryer. I found serenity and fun on my visits to Meadow Point and feel privileged that Elizabeth and her husband shared the folklore and secrets of the land and water! I give accolades to her and her family for dedicating their time and energy to maintaining the dream a great grandfather had long ago of a homestead on this glorious lake. They were attentive hosts; both gracious and accommodating with every request. I will visit again, as soon as I am able, without question. ”
