Can't get any more remote or safer spot than Newcomb. Know that the Bears Den will be taking extreme measures to clean and disinfect the entire cabin before and after each stay.

** Newer authentic log cabin directly on Lake Harris built in 2017. First time offered for rental in summer of 2019. Extremely private off of Route 28N right on Lake Harris in the town of Newcomb NY in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. Only 1/4 mile from town beach. About 1 mile from state campground. Very unique property that you will absolutely love with incredible views of lake and high peaks. NOTE: if you use google maps for the address, it puts you on the Hudson River bridge area which is incorrect. Go by the Lat/Long settings and map above for exact location. But if you use Google or Apple Maps for driving directions, it gets you to the right location.

Log cabin: Heated, full WIFI (Fiber) access. Can accommodate 6 (3 bedrooms) + 1-2 (1 futon).

1st floor - master bedroom, queen size bed with ceiling fan, with private full bathroom (tub, shower, double sink). Two dressers, large closet, sitting area. Great room with futon and ceiling fan. Kitchen with new appliances (fridge, gas stove, microwave). Double sink. Granite counter-tops. Large windows offering great views. Wrap around deck with patio set/umbrella. New Honeywell portable A/C installed June 2022 in great room and window A/C in bedroom Summer 2022.

2nd floor - 2 bedrooms, full size beds, with bathroom & shower with granite counters. Each bedroom has views of the lake, ceiling fans with large closets. Loft area with sitting area overlooking lake. Window A/C in both bedrooms.

Magnificent custom built double spiral log staircase in log home great room. Access to upstairs bedrooms with another log staircase with access to full finished basement. Garage and shed on property.

Full walk-out basement (finished as of May 2023, bathroom, laundry room, living area, all new, fully furnished) - access through main floor spiral log staircase. Double French doors to lake and access to existing camp via basement. New paver patio built 2022 overlooking lake. Three futons and sofa bed available. Also just put in a 52" LCD Sony TV with Roku, VCR, DVD, and ping pong table. New washer and dryer. New fridge in basement for beverages.

Entire driveway paved with additional parking, summer 2024. Can accommodate 8-10 cars.

Attached existing lower camp: Can accommodate 3-5. New carpeting. Access through main log home basement or through lower deck entrance (separate entrance from main log home). Includes large private living room with sofa bed. Large windows with sliding glass door in living room goes out to lower deck. Large bedroom with three twin beds, ceiling fan, with picture window offering incredible views of lake and mountains. No central heat but do have electric baseboard heater for bedroom and electric fireplace for living room.

Private beach and Shoremaster 70' dock (note: docks go in early June, come out labor day weekend). Over 250 feet of lake frontage - depending on water level, beach is accessible. Stone staircase from side of log home to lake and fire pit and another stone staircase to lake/beach. There are no motor boat rentals on Lake Harris. Closest is Long Lake Marine in Long Lake, about 14 miles West of Newcomb.

Town boat launch on beach road about 1/4 mile away should you bring your own boat. You can actually see the boat launch from the property.

Two kayaks, one fishing kayak, one canoe, one inflatable dinghy, one stand up paddleboard available for use.

Cell phone access throughout town (Verizon). Installed Verizon cell phone booster for better reception.

Things to do (from Town of Newcomb website): Hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, boating, swimming, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, skiing nearby. Lake Harris access to Hudson River. School is 1/4 mile away with ball fields, tennis courts, playground and basketball courts. Kayak, canoe, tubing, fishing boats, mountain bike rentals 1/2 mile away on Hudson River which has access to Lake Harris (Cloud-Splitter Outfitters). They also have a small grocery store for your everyday needs.

Newcomb has a gorgeous golf course only 2 miles up the road. High Peaks Golf Course may be one of the most picturesque 9-hole golf courses anywhere. Great views of the upper Hudson River and High Peaks as you play this Adirondack course with elevated sloping greens, creatively placed bunkers, and natural hazards.

Also down the road is the Adirondack Interpretive Center which is a public education facility and we also have the Adirondack Ecological Center (AEC) located within the 15,000 acre Huntington Wildlife Forest. Both are run by the State University of New York's College of Environmental Forestry. The Santanoni Preserve is a beloved 12,500 acre preserve in Newcomb. It is on this magnificent expanse of Adirondack land that the Santanoni Lodge sits, built in 1892 by businessman Robert C. Pruyn. During its hay day, Santanoni was visited by Theodore Roosevelt and James Fenimore Cooper. This Adirondack Great Camp, called by some 'one of the grandest of all Great Camps', is owned by New York State and is open to the public. During the summer, the 4.9 mile trail to the camp can be enjoyed on foot, by bicycle or horse carriage. The trail makes a great 10-mile loop for cross country skiers in the winter. The trail does not allow motorized vehicles, but there are reservations available for purchasing seasonal tours of the preserve via horse and wagon.

About Us: Owners originally from Newcomb. Know the area, love the area. Will help you take advantage of all the wonderful opportunities afforded you while enjoying our beautiful home. Numerous hiking trails, Goodnow / Vanderwalker Mountains with fire tower offering incredible views of the high peaks, hike/bike/horse carriage ride to Newcomb Lake and visit the historic Camp Santanoni (10 miles round trip, one of our very favorite activities). Historic Tahawus only a few miles away, access to high peaks.

Why we think you will enjoy staying in Newcomb: Newcomb is known as the "heart of the Adirondacks" with access to numerous lakes, source of the Hudson River, incredible hiking, access to the high peaks for the 46'rs, mountain biking, fishing, hunting, skiing, snowmobiling, etc... The Adirondacks are one of the most beautiful areas in the entire country and we're confident you will want to come back for another visit. Why our property is special: We took our time building our log home and consider this our dream home. We hired the best contractors to do the construction and we put in countless hours of work ourselves. It's directly on Lake Harris with beautiful views of the lake and the high peaks region. Lake Harris is surrounded by state land with only 33 homes/camps on the entire lake. There is no other available rental property like it on the entire lake. We're confident you will love your stay.
