Welcome to Bair's Blessing on Rainbow Lake.. Now it's YOUR turn to unwind at a spot that offers either nothing but the peacefulness of the wind in the trees, lapping of water at your dock and the crackling of wood in your log stove OR the added personalized adventures you plan.
Our comfortable and cozy lake house is on beautiful, natural and serene Rainbow Lake in the Saranac Lake Chain region of the six million acre "forever wild" Adirondack Park. This area offers countless adventures inclu …ding birding, rock climbing, golfing, scenic drives, hiking on some of the 2,000 miles of trails and the 46 mountain peaks in the park, boating, restaurants, museums, children's activities and seasonal events. You will find information of much of this at the house. Eleven time Bassmaster Classic qualifier Randy Romig has fished Rainbow Lake from our lake house with great success. Fishing tips from Randy are available as well as maps of the lake and the best places to fish. The lake contains Large and Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Pike, Yellow Perch, Crappie, Bullheads, Bluegill among other species. Also available at the house is fishing gear for 2 to 3 people. Please enjoy our canoe, 2 kayaks and Jon boat on the 6 mile long Rainbow Lake. There is a small floating dock for your use just a short few minute row from our dock and two public beaches 15 minutes away.
Bair's Blessing is a quiet destination nestled in the woods down a gravel road. You could spend your entire time in and around our place enjoying what nature has to offer. You could spend all week (and more!) experiencing the beauty and adventure of this area. A short 15 minute drive takes you to the village of Saranac Lake. The ride offers panoramic views of the high peaks! This village was voted one of the "Dozen Distinctive Destinations" by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. It offers a variety of restaurants, shops, free summer concerts in one of the 8 parks, even a carousel. Saranac Lake is also known as the "Arts Destination of the Adirondacks". If you have enough time and endurance, become a Sixer! Climb each of the six mountains mentioned on the plaque found in the middle of town to become a Sixer and to have the honor of ringing the bell!
If you enjoy a true tourist destination, Lake Placid is but a half hour drive from the lake house. Known for being the host of two winter Olympic games, this very popular village offers so much to see and do. Endless shops, restaurants, festivals, live music, cultural and athletic events. The spirit of and facilities from the Olympics is very much alive here.
We hope your stay is the vacation of which you are dreaming and we think you will agree your time away here truly IS a blessing!

“This was a first-time visit to the ADKs for my brother, and I wanted it to be a special experience. Rainbow Lake and Bair's Blessing were perfect for our family trip! My brother spent many happy hours fishing - the largemouth bass were definitely biting! As a family, we canoed and kayaked up and down the lake. The house and property were beautiful, and we had plenty of space to read, watch the birds, and play games. We shared some wonderful meals and ended our days with a corn hole tournament or a fire! A wonderful, peaceful and memorable time for our family. Thank you!”

“I almost don't want to leave this because i want it all to ourselves. But seriously if you love the Adirondacks and outdoors it's a wonderful place. Property was clean and welcoming with many amenities, just as represented in the photos. Kitchen is well stocked with everything you need, plenty of linens, and more. Paddling and fishing at the lake, hiking at Paul Smiths and activities in Saranac Lake or Lake Placid. ”

“My family had a very nice experience at this rental on Rainbow Lake in the fall of 2022. The house was cozy, comfortable and clean. The boats available for guest use were a level above what typically comes with a vacation rental. Owner communication was great as well. This is a great area to Enjoy the Adirondacks. The trails at Paul Smiths are very close by and more difficult hikes can be found within less than 45 minutes. Also one can do some pretty long distance paddling right from the dock. I highly recommend this rental. ”

“For the past 12 years we spend a week in the Adirondacks with dear friends of ours. Each year we try a new place, always searching for perfection. Bair's Blessing is a winner! The location of the house, so near to the towns of Saranac and Lake Placid provided us with opportunities for the days when rainy weather was giving us cabin fever. The house itself is wonderful! The owners have supplied the house with everything we could possibly need from a fully stocked kitchen to comfy beds with beautiful lines, and furniture. No expenses were spared; there is no indication that this is 'just' a rental unit, but rather has all the comforts of a family home. The owners are generous, offering us usage of their groceries left behind in the cabinets, cleaning products should we need them, and extra toiletries. The owners were great communicators during the transaction and called during the week to check in to see if things were going well. The wildlife in the area, blue jays, red squirrels, fox, chipmunks (especially one extra feisty one!) and others let us know they were expecting us to keep the birdfeeder full with the supplied seed and peanuts. The owners even thought to have an electric blower on the porch to clear off pine needles from the deck and stairway down to the nice-size dock. The 2 kayaks were quality brands. The canoe and small fishing boat went unused because there were ample fish caught from the deck and then released. We enjoyed meandering in the kayaks through the marshes nearby before the lake opened up. There is even a device on the deck to aid getting into and out of the kayaks. Again, a lovely location among the pines, but out in the open. We were initially disappointed in the lack of a firepit on the property, but were very pleased with the gas firepit on the deck, especially when our clothes and hair didn't smell like smoke in the morning! We won't hesitate for a moment to return to this lovely Adirondack home!”

“Bair's Blessing is just that - a blessing! A home in the woods in the quietest area I have ever been. If we had neighbors, we never saw or heard them. The option of boats was a great perk, along with all the special touches that were added by the owners, such as a bag of peanuts and birdseed to feed the critters if you choose, binoculars, a telescope, a waffle maker - which we used! - along with many more! Oh, and a small bowl of candies upon our arrival! Very nice! The only thing we missed was a wood burning fire pit instead of the gas fueled one, as we enjoy a campfire, but in a pinch, the gas fueled one was a decent stand in. We would highly recommend this home to anyone!”

“Our stay at BAIR'S BLESSING (July '21) was everything we hoped it would be. The house has everything you could possibly need during your stay, and even more. It made our stay easy knowing there was very little we needed to bring. The house is located on a very private part of the lake, great for kayaks, fishing, and near-by floating docks to take a swim. We took advantage of near-by hiking trails and nearby towns of Saranac Lake and Lake Placid to round out our activities on the lake. You'll love your stay at Bair's Blessing, especially the local squirrels and chipmunks that will greet you upon your arrival...quickly training you on how to feed them their favorite peanut treats.”

“Our second visit to Bair's Blessing and it's one of our favorite escapes. There's nothing like a cup of coffee in front of those windows or on the deck, watching the lake wake up. Fishing, swimming, hiking, paddling--it's all right there. The house had everything we needed. Comfortable and clean. Little touches like fairy lights on the porch make it feel magical. We can't wait to come back.”

“What a joy it was to stay at Bair's Blessing! We stay in the ADK at least once a year and were grateful that Covid did not prevent us from returning this year. The house is well stocked with supplies, clean and beautifully decorated, the beds and furniture are comfortable, the rooms are spacious, and the location is very quiet, yet close to Saranac Lake and Lake Placid, We enjoyed our days starting out by enjoying coffee in the front sitting area watching birds and squirrels at the feeder before heading out for a day of fishing, kayaking or hiking. The fishers and kayakers in our group enjoyed exploring Inlet and The Flow - there were no buildings to be found and it was so quiet ... several fish were caught, birds were spotted, and a beaver was seen swimming along. Kayaking in the area closer to the house we spotted herons and a pair of loons and their babies. We hiked the Flume and Bear Den Mt, Baker Mt and took a stroll through Henry's Woods - all 3 had great views! The girls enjoyed feeding the chipmunks peanuts...the little guys were so friendly and kept us all amused. We really appreciated the cookware and utensils in the kitchen - we cooked almost every meal there and never had to "make do" or improvise because we couldn't find a tool or piece of cookware. We did eat outside at the Blue Line Brewery on our last night. Evenings were spent around the dining room table playing games of cards or around the propane fire pit (not quite as good as a real wood fire, but enjoyable). Everyone slept well - no complaints about uncomfortable beds. Keith and Marjorie are wonderful hosts. They continually stayed in contact and were clear about their concern for everyone doing their part to stay safe (and keep other renters safe) during Covid. They really worked to ensure that our stay would be a comfortable one. We were sad to leave and hope to be able to return again. It was unanimously agreed upon that this was one of our best stays in the ADK! Thanks again for letting us stay in your house.”

“Visiting the Adirondacks was on my bucket list, and we couldn't have asked for a better home and location for our family vacation during COVID. We visited with our two adult sons and their partners. The home is in a fairly remote location, right on Rainbow Lake, and we could canoe and kayak to our hearts' content - often seeing no one else on the water. We saw and heard loons, including some babies, which was a thrill, and it was fun to explore the lake and see how far we could make it before figuring we'd better turn back! The home itself is beautiful - gorgeous wood floors throughout, super clean, well maintained and very nicely decorated - with many thoughtful touches for guests. There were plenty of supplies and the kitchen was very well-stocked. There were several common areas which were very pleasant to relax in - we sat in the chairs at the window and enjoyed watching the bird feeder and the lake, played games in the screened-in porch, and sat on the deck feeding the chipmunks and relaxing. Watched a little TV and played games on "Jackbox," which the kids showed us, where each person uses their phone or device and it connects to the TV. Quite fun. The upstairs bedrooms were beautiful and spacious and the downstairs bedroom smaller, but still nice. In addition to enjoying the house, we hiked at Roaring Brook Falls, Azure Mountain and the VIC at Paul Smith's College, the younger ones swam at the beach at Lake Clear, we went to a farmer's market in Lake Placid and ate outside at a restaurant in Ray Brook. We also rented kayaks at St. Regis Canoe Outfitters in Saranac Lake and rowed on Saranac River for something different, and went to Donnelly's almost daily for their ice cream of the day! The owners were extremely gracious, accessible and responsive to our every question or need. We hope we can come back to the area again and would definitely stay here!”
Owner's Response
“It sounds like you made the most of your stay! We MUST check out Azure Mountain. I appreciate your kind description of our bedrooms despite the beds being stripped for COVID reasons! We’re so glad you enjoyed your time and would be more than happy to have you back sometime.”

“We could not have had a better stay in this lovely home. Everything we needed was there from the boats to kitchen utensils. The view over the lake with morning coffee was perfect. We saw fox, deer, birds, chipmunks and squirrels from the comfortable chairs by the windows. To be able to walk down to the dock any time of day and enjoy kayaking, canoeing, and fishing was amazing. There's a beautiful sandy lake beach 15 minutes away and plenty of hiking nearby. We've stayed many places in the Adirondacks and Bair's Blessing is definitely one we will return to. ”

“This property was truly a blessing for our family vacation. Nearly everything we needed for our stay was there, but we did eat a majority of our meals at the various restaurants in the surrounding area and had takeout several times from the Adirondack Market/Deli. The property was comfortable and beautiful both inside and out. We enjoyed hand-feeding the chipmunks, and the guys took the boat out on the lake to fish and photograph the loon. We visited the W!ld Center and sat in the huge nest, and our adult son ran across the large spider web like a young child. We spent a lot of time hiking at the VIC at Paul Smith's College. We made several visits to Lake Placid to see the venues from the 1932 and 1980 Winter Olympics. I got a bit emotional being there and was awestruck by the sight of the Olympic Ski Jump Towers from the highway on our way home on Whiteface Mountain. We also took a boat ride on Lake Placid and were thoroughly entertained by the stories told by our young captain. The views of the High Falls Gorge were breathtaking even from the easier trail which I chose to take. One of the unforgettable highlights of our trip was a visit to the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge. Everyone there was very knowledgeable, there were plenty of animals to see, and the bears were a joy to watch and feed. I hope we can revisit the area in the future and stay at this lovely home. The owners were very kind and helpful and quick to answer when needed. It was an unforgettable family adventure in a beautiful place, and we have a lot of pictures to enjoy and share until next time.”

“We just finished our 2 week stay at Bair's Blessing and it truly was a blessing. The pictures do not do this rental justice. It is oozing charm from the moment that you pull up and walk through the screened in porch to enter the home. There are big picture windows that let you enjoy a spectacular view of Rainbow Lake throughout the entire day and cozy chairs for which to sip your morning coffee and look at the birds and local wildlife. The house has three cozy bedrooms that can comfortably sleep 7 and with another air mattress we were able to accommodate our in-laws who came to stay with us for two days. The kitchen and bathrooms are in immaculate shape as is the washer dryer. The owners took such care in making sure the house was equipped with everything a renter could possibly need that was easy to access during our stay. The deck had a lovely fire pit and grill where we enjoyed many outdoor meals. We took advantage of the boats provided and canoed and kayaked up and down the lake taking in the beautiful scenery and swimming whenever the weather permitted. This house is very well located as it was within 30 minutes to the Tupper Lake, Saranac Lake and Lake Placid Towns. If you rent this house you will not be disappointed! ”

“Our family group - four adults and two kids - rented this house in July 2019. We were thrilled with it! The inside of the house is spacious and airy, with plenty of comfortable seating for all of us, and there's a huge screen porch (with actual glass windows) with additional seating. With all the windows and ceiling fans, we were able to create cooling air flow even on hot days. The view is just lovely and we all spent most of our indoor time looking out at it from the living room while relaxing and chatting. There are no houses across this narrow end of the lake, so your view from on high is unobstructed. The houses on either side of this one are pretty well screened and far away, resulting in my favorite vacation feature: Quiet! It's a climb down to the dock, but you are rewarded with great kayaks and a canoe and johnboat (and there's a selection of different PFD sizes as well). There's so much exploring to be done on this end of the lake - we were lucky with the weather and were able to get out on the water every day. A couple things I noted (and appreciated) that are unusual in rental homes: The bathroom upstairs has plenty of towel racks for everyone, and the artwork throughout the place is attractive and interesting. Keith and Margie have created a calm, comfortable, relaxing retreat; my only complaint is that we had to leave at the end of our wonderful week there! ”

“Thanks so much for your kind words. I’m so happy you had a good vacation. I agree with you, quiet is everything! We feel the same way about leaving when we spend time there also! We would be happy to have you as our guests anytime.”

“Delightful Adirondack "camp" on the tail-end of Rainbow Lake. Quiet, well equipped, clean and comfortable. We rented "Blair's Blessing" with another couple and were well satisfied. The two upstairs bedrooms were very large and spacious and shared a bathroom in the hall. One viewed the lake and had a queen bed and a reading chair. The other room overlooked the circular drive/parking area and had a queen and a twin. All the beds we used were comfortable. The small bedroom on the main floor had a full size bed and was next to another full bathroom. There was a large dining table suitable for six guests. The rental was entered through a large enclosed porch with additional furniture, but had plenty of room for us to stash our hiking and kayaking equipment (paddles, PFDs, etc.} It also had a deck in the back with outdoor table and a grill. There were stairs down to the water which faced a boggy area but had a place to launch the two kayaks and canoe supplied with the rental. There was also a dock. It would have been difficult to get our own kayaks and paddleboards down to the water as we would have had to bring them through the enclosed porch (or bushwhack around it) and down a fairly steep winding path with steps, so we were glad there were some yaks and the canoe with the rental. Since we planned to spend our time paddling the many lakes and waterways in the region with our own yaks, this was not a problem. The rental is not located in an area suitable for swimming. Although we were told there was a "community" swimming float nearby, we were usually too tired to seek it out at the end of the day and didn't identify where it was located. The kitchen was particularly well equipped, but a bit of a bottleneck. One cook at a time, please. We enjoyed watching the birds, chipmunks and red squirrels that frequented the bird feeder off the back deck. We also had a red fox pay us a visit one evening and allowed us to take several pictures as he scrounged for fallen bird seed. Poor fellow must not have been having a successful hunt. ”

“Thank you so much for your review. I’m glad you had a good time! Just wanted to clarify a few things. There should have been seating for eight at the dining room table. I’ll look into this. In the instructions that should have been on the kitchen counter as you entered it states there’s a private launch where you can launch your own boats about three houses down the road. I’m so sorry you didn’t get to use it. . Personally every time we go we both end up spending time in the kitchen and we’ve haven’t banged into each other yet! But I understand if it wasn’t convenient for you, Thank you again for your time putting in a review. You’re welcome to return anytime! Margie and Keith Bair”

“We had such a nice time. The house is thoughtfully and tastefully set up to anticipate your every possible interest up here. The house must have been redone because it is clean and fresh. there is a great set of chairs -one for every mood - to watch the beautiful scenery and views. Speaking of scenery, we have never been nature watchers but out here we actually learned what blue jays and hummingbirds are as they have great bird houses around the property. The boating was great; Rainbow Lake is an interestingly shaped lake so you get that explorer feel s you navigate it by kayak or Joe Boat. back to the house, the kitchen is well set up, the rooms are clean and comfortable, laundry room, newer bathrooms.... I would give it 10 out of 10.”

“Bairs Blessing was an amazing place to spend a week! The home was spacious and well equipped for everything we could need for a relaxing, fun-filled week. I was there with four other people, and that was more than enough room for us all. We could have had a few more people there and wouldn't have even noticed. Every morning while we sipped our coffee, we relaxed in their comfortable chairs and watched the wildlife out of their picture window. When we decided to get moving, there was plenty to do within a short drive. There are many hiking trials around the area. Some are very challenging, but fortunately my friends were wiling to do the easy (flat) trials to keep me happy! If you are a history buff, you will want to go to John Brown's Farm. We had a great tour there and was one of the places where we took a hike. If you are a fan of "Little House on the Prairie" I recommend a drive to see Almanzo Wilder's house in Malone. It is a little drive, but you won't be disappointed. Paul Smith's College has a great butterfly house and the hiking trials there are not to be missed. The owner had left directions to a small, very private beach on a beautiful lake not far from the home, where you could easily spend the day. We also took a gondola ride up Whiteface Mountain where the views were spectacular. If you didn't want to get in your car, there is plenty to do at the home. Kayaks and a small boat are provided, along with plenty of life jackets for all sizes! The lake right outside of the home is amazing! Or, you can spend time just watching some movies in their living room. We made great meals on the grill and the kitchen was well equipped with all the necessities of life. The grocery store was nearby too, for anything that was forgotten. If you didn't want to cook, there are plenty of delicious restaurants within a short drive. Don't pass up a week at Bairs Blessing! Lifetime memories will be made there. Looking forward to visiting again. ”

“Wow, this place is amazing! The pictures do not do it justice at all! It is beautiful, cozy, extremely comfortable and as near or far away from civilization as you want it to be. The owner is accessible, friendly and very knowledgeable about the area. The house is immaculate and there was not one issue the whole week. The deck is wonderful for sitting and watching nature, from hummingbirds and butterflies to the beautiful wildflowers all around. We really enjoyed seeing and hearing the Loons and their cute little babies! Our favorite part of the vacation was using the canoe, kayaks & rowboat made available to renters by the kind owners. Sunset over the lake made for some gorgeous photos, and there is so much to see if you feel like exploring the surroundings. The cabin was in close proximity to Saranac Lake and Lake Placid where we enjoyed the fine restaurants, many trails, mountain views, etc. There are a number of beaches within close proximity of the house. If you are one for just kicking back & relaxing, this is the place for you as well! I will be back very soon and look forward to it!! Thank you for a beautiful, peaceful week!”

“We stayed nearly a week. The photos don't do it justice! Much nicer in real life. Clean, roomy, and comfortable.Equipped with anything and everything we could have needed... plus! We have done AirBnB's which have had bare minimum of basics, so we were impressed) A bonus surprise was individual thermostats in each room so all could be comfortable. Making Smores over the electric fire pit on the deck in the evening listening to the peepers frogs was a marvelous way to wind down the day. Many attractions, museums, hikes, and water to enjoy. Kitchen was stocked with everything we need! Everything!(and the refrigerator is huge refrigerator is huge !) The beds were very comfortable. As it rained some days we still enjoyed looking out at the lake or watching humming birds, woodpecks and other birds at the feeders from the back windows sitting in comfortable eclectic chairs or hanging out on the screen side porch. We were able to make calls via WiFi . The lake is beautiful . We kayaked all around different coves. We found a swimming dock down a little ways to the left of the house's dock. Hubby enjoyed fishing. Only negative is we had to leave. We Deffinately will be back. So much more to see and do. Oh, the neighbors were friendly and answered some questions kindly for us.”

“Thanks for the nice words, we're so glad you enjoyed your time here! That would be a gas fire pit on which you made your Smores, never too old for Smores!”
