Camp Kidura is a private home for families or friends looking for a beautiful escape to relax and explore. With four bedrooms, two lofts and three full baths, this new, luxurious and comfortable Adirondack style home comfortably sleeps 10.
Located on the southern end of majestic Upper Saranac Lake in the Adirondacks State Park, Camp Kidura is part of one of the historic Great Camps of the Adirondacks. It is a new, custom timber frame home. It is located just feet from the water with a private … swimming area, dock, and signature boulder over the water. Camp Kidura also has rights to a communal beach/picnic area, fire pit and boat launch.
Built for entertainment purposes, Camp Kidura has an open, custom-built kitchen (commercially equipped) that opens to the great room where it is hard to miss the spectacular/dramatic views of the lake and mountains through a wall of windows. The kitchen is fully equipped and has granite counters with custom, Douglas fir cabinets.
Two wood burning stoves and radiant floor heat - in addition to the large stone fireplace - are very inviting after a day's activities. A large wrap around deck on the first level and a second story deck expand the already large living spaces. Immediately adjacent to the water is a stone patio that offers a more natural feel next to a boulder peninsula.
Nearby activities are endless: fishing, world-famous fly-fishing, canoeing, kayaking, boating, sailing, horseback riding, and swimming right off the docks. Winter sports include skiing (downhill and cross-country), snowshoeing, ice fishing, hockey, luge, bobsled, ice skating, and more. Shopping boutiques and novelty shops in Saranac Lake and Lake Placid can offer a break from the outdoors for those who wish.
Some examples:
- Panther Mountain hike - a scenic 1.6 mile round trip hike with spectacular views. Numerous other Northern Region and High Peaks hikes are also a short drive away.
- The new "Wild Center", the Natural History Museum of the Adirondacks is just minutes away.
- A leisurely canoe ride can take you to local destinations on Upper Saranac Lake such as the historic Wawbeek Great Camp and Chapel Island.
- Olympic Village of Lake Placid and Whiteface Mountain are about 30 - 40 minutes away.
- Historic town of Saranac Lake is a short, 10 - 15 minute drive.
- The Visitor Interpretation Center at Paul Smiths College is also a short drive.
- The Adirondack Museum is about 45 minutes to an hour away providing a rich and interactive way to learn about the rugged and therapeutic history of this vast state park.
Camp Kidura includes wireless, high-speed internet access (for those that want it), a laundry area with washer and dryer, cable television, linens and housekeeping at the end of your stay provided.
It is with great excitement and anticipation that we began our memorable times in the Adirondacks. We have built it for years of family fun and memories in mind. We share our home in hopes of other families creating and sharing memories, like ours, for years to come. Camp Kidura was named after two brothers who, on a slow afternoon at work one day, decided to finally realize their dream Adirondack home after a childhood of only visiting. Welcome and enjoy.

About Us: My husband grew up enjoying the Finger Lakes in upstate NY and visiting the Adirondacks. I visited the Adirondacks as a child. Now that we have a family of our own, we have been going for over 17 years to the Adirondacks. It's a special place - bigger than many of the national parks, plus it's a great combination of lakes, mountains and villages. We are happy to share our home with others and we have been fortunate to have wonderful renters who share our love for this beautiful area.
Why we think you will enjoy staying in Upper Saranac Lake: Upper Saranac Lake is particularly wonderful place in the Adirondacks. It's a sizable lake that is great for sailing or exploring. And, it's not very developed. Much of the shore front land is owned by New York State and will be "forever wild". As a result - you see more trees along the shore than houses or other kinds of development. Plus we are close to the village of Tupper Lake & not far from the villages of Saranac Lake (largest in the park) and Lake Placid (home of Whiteface Mountain).
Why our property is special: Our home was designed specifically for this property - to enjoy the view of the mountains over the lake. It's relatively new, well kept and clean. Our boathouse makes it even easier to enjoy the lake and extends our outdoor living space. Boaters are welcome - bring your boat, rent one or use one of our canoe or kayaks. This home is very close to another home which we also own so you will still have privacy.

“Simply spectacular...beautiful home with amazing views. House was clean and well equipped. It fit our multigenerational family group perfect for a long weekend. Boathouse was a great bonus - enjoyed the rooftop porch and the game room below. We will be back!”

“We feel very lucky to have had a last minute opportunity to stay at Camp Kidura due to a cancellation. Allison is a great host and we had no trouble communicating and solving the logistical issues of booking a week before the trip. Camp Kidura is a beautiful Post and Beam home with lovely flow and plenty of modern amenities. The kitchen was clean and had every convenience you could ask for including a funky Kuhn Rikon can opener (we had to google the how to use video) that allowed us to dine in during these difficult times. All of the furniture is pretty new, clean and comfortable including the beds. The house itself was spotless. Camp Kidura is part of a larger great camp area with a common central lawn and beach area with a fire pit that we didn't take advantage of since we were happy playing shuffleboard in the boat house and hanging inside at night. There is a nice boat launch which makes it really convenient to get your boat in and out of the lake. A good hint from the caretaker is to drop your boat in first before heading to the camp otherwise it is tough turn around next to the house. As others have pointed out there is a need for fans during hot weeks which we just experienced. Luckily my son came a day later and brought some fans up which made a big difference. Also this is a sunrise facing house with no shades so be prepared for beautiful but early rising with direct sunshine. If you need some darkness, bring a set of eye masks. We had a great vacation and I highly recommend Camp Kidura.”

“My family of 5 had a magical week at Camp Kidura! We've been renting homes on Upper Saranac for the past 20 years and all 5 of us agreed..this one was our favorite. Because the home was built right up on the lakefront, rather than nestled in the woods, the views from the bedrooms and living areas are spectacular. The house is impeccably clean, the modern kitchen is fully stocked and the beds are very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the newly built boat dock where some of us could relax on top, while others fished and swam off the dock below. The game room was a hit with our teenage boys. The end of the week, was particularly hot for ADK weather and the house did heat up quickly. My one suggestion would be to stock a few more fans around the house. Allison was a great host and we look forward to coming back soon! ”
Owner's Response
“Thank you. It is especially nice to hear that after 20 years on Upper Saranac that our family's lake house is one of your family's favorites now. We look forward to having you again! And, we are investing in fans.”

“I have rented Kidura with a group of friends for approximately seven or eight years now. We rent it in the Spring, so there is very little activity on the lake or with other camps close by. There is another camp in very close proximity to Kidura. In the Spring it has not been an issue. Parking can be an issue above three vehicles. The facility itself is wonderful. Beautiful Adironadack construction. Great open floor space for a large group to be together. Wonderful porch looking over the lake. A fantastic boat house with large deck on top overlooking the lake. Upper Saranac Lake itself is a beautifull lake to swim, boat and fish in. ”

“My family and I packed the house and had the best week together! We had grandparents to grandkids all under one beautiful roof. The home is gorgeous, new, clean with lots of space to spread out and lots of shared spaces for meals and games. The house is right on the water, with gorgeous sunrise views and a distant view of Chapel Island. There are no immediate neighbors to the left facing the water, but close neighbors to the right who we didn't even see all week. As one reviewer noted, we felt like we had the place to ourselves. We spent most of our time on the over-sized tiled deck above the boathouse watching the kids fish, swim and kayak off the docks on either side of the boathouse. There's also a covered porch off the extended family/TV room with a large table and 4 chairs, and an upstairs deck off of one of the bedrooms. Property comes with 1 kayak and 2 canoes, and loads of life jackets. The water is very clean. We brought pool noodles and were glad we did as the water gets deep and rocky quickly. Inside there were tons of board games and even a game room in the boathouse with shuffleboard and foosball. There were plenty of TV's yet we found ourselves never using any until a rainy night at the end of the week. I recommend bringing a fan or two in the summer as the house gets full sun most of the day and there is no A/C. The kitchen had everything we needed. Bathrooms were new and clean with plenty of towels. Beds were comfortable, although a little creaky for those that toss and turn. Tupper Lake is 10 minutes and the IGA there is amazing for groceries--great produce and craft beer selection. Just sayin'. Saranac is 20 minutes the other direction. A definite noteworthy item in the house for those with teenagers was a good old fashioned working rotary phone!!!! None of our teens could figure out how to use it! There was a modern phone, of course as well, for local calls. We had a great time at Camp Kidura--it had everything we needed for a great and memorable vacation!”
